Job DescriptionWe're looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our collaborative product development team and help design next-generation infrared camera systems. In this role, you'll work hands-on across the full product lifecycle-bringing innovative concepts to life and seeing your designs move from prototype to production.
You'll partner closely with electrical, optical, systems, and manufacturing engineers to create highly sophisticated, real-world products used in impactful applications.
What You'll Do- Own and contribute to product development from concept through production:
- Create detailed 3D CAD designs using SolidWorks
- Define mechanical architecture, build flows, and fixturing concepts
- Conduct trade studies and design iterations to optimize performance
- Perform finite element analysis (structural & thermal)
- Complete tolerance analysis and support design validation
- Build and test rapid prototypes
- Collaborate cross-functionally
- Work closely with Electrical, Optical, Systems, and Manufacturing teams
- Interface with suppliers and production teams to ensure smooth builds
- Drive quality and continuous improvement
- Perform testing, failure analysis, and design refinements
- Support production with yield improvements and process efficiencies
- Deliver clear, high-quality documentation
- Create drawings with GD&T,BOMs, and configuration management records
- Develop technical documentation such as test plans, user guides, and specifications
What You Bring- BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or relevant work experience
- Strong experience with SolidWorks (PDM experience a plus)
- Hands-on experience with hardware assembly and testing
- Knowledge of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles
- Experience working with production teams and supporting builds
Nice to Have- Simulation experience (thermal, fluid, structural analysis)
- Knowledge of machining, sheet metal, or injection molding design
- Experience with optics or automated mechanical systems
- Familiarity with GD&T and 2D drawing standards

Salary Range: $113,600.00-$151,400.000
