Mechanical Design Engineer Specializing in HVAC

Mechanical/HVAC Engineers at the Curtiss-Wright Nuclear Division QualTech NP Cincinnati location supports the development and delivery of product and service solutions by utilizing technical expertise to provide engineering and execution of customer projects. The role collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to analyze requirements, develop solutions, support proposal development, and execute project requirements on receipt of orders. The HVAC product line covers a wide range of products to support the Nuclear Industry including Air Handling Units, Chillers, Dampers, and more.  As an HVAC Engineer, you will play a vital role within the assigned business segment supporting profitable growth in a dynamic industry.  This position reports to the Engineering Director and requires interaction with customers, suppliers, engineering, program management, operations, sales and quality assurance to support both domestic and international products and services for the Nuclear Industry.

Location: Cincinnati, Ohio

Salary Information: $82,000 - $110,000 per year, plus bonus

Your Challenge:

Execute complex and highly technical inquiries and contracts by:

• Analyzing customer requirements, specifications and associated industry standards and developing clear, concise and accurate technical input to proposals ensuring compliance with customer requirements.
• Providing innovative, practical solutions to advance technical engineering problems.
• Prepare, develop, modify and evaluate methods for designing, testing and qualifying a variety of HVAC systems and equipment.
• Demonstrated success designing and analyzing mechanical systems, machinery, fluid (air, water) flow.
• Determines technical objectives and develops innovative, practical solutions to advance technical engineering problems.
• Supporting project meetings, walk-downs or site visits, and customer discussions.  
• Supporting effective customer & vendor communications, ensuring that all requirements and expectations are addressed effectively and timely.
• Efficiently and effectively work towards goals in a complex, varied and highly regulated environment.

What You Bring:

• Due to the nature of work performed at this site, incumbents must be a U.S. Person.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field, Mechanical with experience in Thermal Systems or related HVAC (pumps, fans, compressors) preferred.
• Two (2) to Six (6) years of related experience in an engineering role preferred.
• Ability to translate technical requirements into system plans and documentation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills applied to customer and engineering challenges.
• Effective communication skills for presenting to customers and working across cross-functional teams.
• Ability to travel (up to 10%) to customer sites as needed for technical support and implementation activities.
• Commitment to continuous learning, technical skill development and collaborative teamwork.
• Excellent organization, communication (written and oral) and presentation skills.
• Capable of coordinating multiple responsibilities.
• Knowledge of basic engineering processes and procedures and experience in a highly regulated industry (Nuclear Aerospace, Defense).
• Familiarity with ASME AG-1 preferred.
• Attention to detail is a must.
