Moog is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to support multiple teams focused on development of next-generation hypersonic vehicle solutions. You will need to solve innovative and adaptive solutions based on very ambiguous requirements. Knowledge with electromechanical and hydraulic actuators, release mechanisms, complex systems packaging and structure solutions, and interactions with power management and controllers will be critical in this role. There is also customer interaction that will require some business development involvement and critical relationship building/networking. You will support designs across proposals and multiple programs in parallel while working with classified and CUI information.

Hypersonic Vehicle Systems (HVS) is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support the ever-growing business unit. It will be essential to juggle multiple complex programs with similar environments that may come close to challenging physics in order to continue to support the warfighter and help advance technology for solutions that have never been completed before.

You will report to the HVS Staff Systems Engineering Manager and will have an onsite work schedule in East Aurora, New York. You will work alongside systems, electrical, firmware, software, and packaging engineers reporting into this organization.

  • Proven ability to work in agile and quick-turn environments with demonstrated results.
  • Capability to progress designs in the absence of clear requirements and pivot quickly in response to changes.
  • Confidence in a solution and steering customers towards best results
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. DoD Top Secret Security Clearance

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will:
  • Work independently with general supervision to develop designs and identify critical performance characteristics.
  • Support proposals and design requirements across multiple programs, many of which are direct to government.
  • Work across SDG BU's with other engineers to ensure system designs are adequate and mechanical solutions will meet the warfighters needs.
  • Support new programs through trade studies, concept development, proposal responses, and customer presentations.
  • Provide solutions that balance a broad range of issues backed by sound engineering judgment.
  • Support NRE estimates for proposals and provide technical insight to test plans/verification/validation.
  • Provide support to a Systems Engineering team working on actuation technology and integration of actuation systems.

How We Care for You:
  • Financial Rewards: great compensation package, bonus opportunities, matching 401k, and the ability to participate in Employee Stock Purchase Plan (select locations), Flexible Spending and Health Savings Accounts
