WNA is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for the Portersville or Pittsburgh, PA office. The ideal candidate will have established experience in HVAC systems design for the building construction industry and a demonstrated ability to contribute to projects from the initial design through final construction. The Mechanical Design Engineer II will thrive in a collaborative, results-driven environment, contributing directly to the execution of our mission and vision. The Mechanical Design Engineer II will report directly to the VP of Engineering. This opportunity is available at either Pittsburgh or Portersville office.
Engineer Priorities
- Assist in the design of various mechanical systems for building construction projects under the supervision of Project Leadership
- Develop accurate designs/drawings that comply with all applicable codes and company drafting standards, practices, and procedures
- Assist in the heating/cooling load calculations and building energy modeling
- Prepare technical reports, edit specifications, and undertake technical investigation studies
- Coordinate internally with the mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering design teams
- Participate in the QA/QC process, project time budgeting, milestone design review and inter-discipline cross-checking
- Coordinate with Code Officials and provide code summaries for projects
- Coordinate time and schedule to work on multiple projects concurrently
- Participate in all scheduled team communication, meetings, and trainings
What You Need
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree from an ABET Accredited College in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Minimum 4 years of relevant work experience (beyond college curriculum) designing commercial and retail mechanical systems including HVAC air and piping/water systems
- Relevant Work Experience using AutoCAD and Revit required
- Knowledge in MEP building/energy codes, and working with Utility Companies and Local Municipalities
- High level of Personal Integrity, Professionalism and Honesty with one's own ability
- Excellent critical thinking skills and desire to collaborate and take on challenges
- Licensures or certifications such as PE, EIT, CPDT, or CPD a plus!
