Full Job Description
Mechanical Design Engineer II Join Honeywell's Energy and Sustainability Solutions division as a Mechanical Design Engineer II and take part in designing and delivering innovative mechanical solutions that enhance product performance, safety, and reliability. This role offers the opportunity to make a direct impact on the success of global LNG projects while collaborating with cross-functional teams across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and field service. You will report directly to our Mechanical Design Engineering Manager and you'll work out of our Palmetto, FL location on a hybrid work schedule. Responsibilities KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Lead and manage mechanical design tasks for pressure vessels and related equipment in accordance with ASME BPVC Section VIII (Div 1 & 2). • Perform structural analysis to address static and dynamic loading including wind, seismic, transportation, and blast conditions. • Develop and maintain inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair procedures for pressure vessels. • Partner with Designers to generate 3D models, detailed drawings, and bills of materials for manufacturing. • Support and troubleshoot manufacturing challenges at the Port Manatee facility, collaborating with QC, Procurement, Project Management, and Production teams. • Provide field services support including LEAP assessments, debottlenecking, loading/offloading guidance, and inspection/repair at international LNG sites. • Interface with global customers and vendors, requiring occasional domestic and international travel. • Contribute to bid packages by drafting mechanical scopes, addressing technical inquiries, and identifying project risks. • Lead root cause failure analysis (RCFA) and implement corrective actions for shop and field issues. • Drive continuous improvement through updates to design templates, procedures, and manufacturing guidelines. • Participate in supplier audits and technical qualification reviews. • Occasional travel internationally as needed. Qualifications YOU MUST HAVE • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics • 3+ years of experience in pressure vessel design, troubleshooting, and field or manufacturing environments. • Proficiency with ASME Section VIII (Div 1 & 2), mechanical design principles, and design tools such as COMPRESS and SolidWorks. • Familiarity with Product Data Management systems (e.g., Teamcenter). WE VALUE • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline. • Demonstrated success leading mechanical design projects. • Experience resolving complex technical issues in field service or production settings. • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities independently and communicate effectively across teams. • Experience mentoring junior engineers or interns. • Familiarity with manufacturing methods, materials, and quality standards. • Vendor audit and qualification experience.
