About the Position

The company is seeking an experienced Mechanical Construction Plumbing VDC Manager to lead its Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) department and support the coordination, fabrication, and field execution of commercial plumbing projects.

This highly visible leadership role will oversee a team of 1-2 VDC Designers while driving the implementation and utilization of advanced modeling, coordination, and field layout technologies. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring projects are accurately designed, coordinated with other trades, and successfully executed in the field.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the Plumbing VDC department, including mentoring and developing VDC Designers.
  • Create and maintain detailed plumbing models for commercial construction projects.
  • Coordinate plumbing systems with project teams, contractors, and other building trades.
  • Support fabrication planning and field installation through accurate modeling and constructability reviews.
  • Conduct clash detection and coordination meetings using industry-leading software tools.
  • Collaborate with project managers, field personnel, and clients to ensure project success.
  • Implement and maintain VDC standards, workflows, and best practices.
  • Utilize technology to improve project efficiency, accuracy, and field productivity.
  • Support field layout and installation processes through coordinated digital construction solutions.

Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial plumbing design, VDC, BIM, or related mechanical construction environments.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial plumbing systems and construction practices.
  • Experience leading or mentoring design and modeling teams.
  • Proficiency with:
    • REVIT with SysQue
    • VicTools
    • Navisworks
    • AutoCAD
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with multiple project stakeholders and trade partners.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to live in or relocate to Southeastern South Dakota.
  • Experience supporting fabrication workflows and field installation activities.
  • Background in clash detection, BIM coordination, and virtual construction processes.
  • Demonstrated success managing multiple commercial construction projects simultaneously.
