Full Job Description
Torch Technologies is seeking a Mechanical/Aerospace Engineer to join a team performing structural integrity evaluations and stress analysis on high-performance gearboxes and drivetrain systems supporting All Army Platforms. This position supports the evaluation of rotating mechanical components to ensure compliance with aerospace safety, durability, and airworthiness standards.

As a Mechanical/Aerospace Engineer your duties will include the following, but are not limited to:
  • Perform static, dynamic, and fatigue stress analysis on transmission gears, bearings, housings, and shafts.
  • Develop, execute, and refine finite element models (FEM) to simulate operational stress, strain, thermal loads, and vibration.
  • Conduct drivetrain validation activities, including gear contact stress, bending stress, and pitting/scoring resistance analysis to predict component life and prevent failure.
  • Perform crack propagation, fracture mechanics, and damage tolerance evaluations to establish inspection intervals and safe-life limits.
  • Prepare and review stress reports and certification packages supporting compliance with FAA, EASA, and/or military airworthiness requirements.
  • Support analysis and evaluation of aerospace drivetrain systems operating under extreme mechanical loads and conditions.

Required Qualifications:
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, or related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in stress analysis, specifically supporting aerospace transmissions, gearboxes, or rotating machinery.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Clearance.
  • Advanced proficiency with FEA/FEM tools such as NASTRAN, ANSYS, or ABAQUS.
  • Experience with 3D CAD modeling tools such as CATIA V5 or SolidWorks.
  • Strong understanding of aerospace material properties, surface treatments, and common failure modes associated with aerospace alloys.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Engineering Mechanics.
  • Prior experience supporting military aerospace or rotorcraft drivetrain programs.
  • Familiarity with FAA, EASA, or military airworthiness certification processes.
