Job DescriptionMcLeod Orthopaedics Seacoast is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our growing OrthoNOW orthopedic urgent care service in Little River, South Carolina. This position provides high-quality musculoskeletal and orthopedic care in a fast-paced outpatient setting, treating patients with acute injuries and orthopedic conditions while collaborating closely with an established orthopedic team of physicians and APPs.
The APP will serve as both an OrthoNOW provider and a shared orthopedic resource for the practice, supporting post-operative care, fracture management, emergency department follow-ups, sports medicine access, and physician overflow needs.
Practice Highlights:
- Established orthopedic practice with 11 physicians and 11 Advanced Practice Providers.
- Full support staff including Medical Assistants and Radiology Technologists.
- 100% outpatient position.
- No call responsibilities.
- Seven-day orthopedic urgent care access for the coastal community.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients presenting with orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions.
- Manage sprains, strains, fractures, joint pain, limb pain, sports injuries, and other orthopedic complaints.
- Perform comprehensive orthopedic assessments and develop treatment plans.
- Order and interpret diagnostic studies, including radiographic imaging.
- Provide fracture care, cast applications, cast changes, and follow-up management.
- Conduct post-operative visits, wound evaluations, suture and staple removal, and dressing changes.
- See orthopedic follow-up patients on behalf of the physician group.
- Evaluate and manage emergency department orthopedic follow-up patients.
- Support sports medicine rapid-access clinics and urgent referrals.
- Assist with physician add-on appointments and clinic overflow needs.
- Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
Schedule:
7 days on / 7 days off rotation.
Weekdays:
- 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM: Orthopedic support services
- 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM: OrthoNOW clinic coverage
Weekends:
- 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM OrthoNOW clinic coverage
- 72-hour rotation week, consisting of 60 hours of direct patient care and 12 hours of orthopedic support.
Qualifications:
(Required)
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
- South Carolina licensure or eligibility for licensure.
- DEA certification or eligibility.
- Ability to work independently in a high-volume outpatient orthopedic environment.
(Preferred)
- Prior experience in Orthopedics, Emergency Medicine, Sports Medicine, Urgent Care, or a related specialty.
- Minimum of two years of orthopedic or emergency medicine experience preferred.
