Materials Supervisor – Job Description

What You Will Do

As part of our Johnson Controls Data Center Solutions (DCS) / Silent-Aire team, you will lead a group responsible for inventory control, picking, tool crib operations, material handling, and shipping/receiving. You will oversee the team that supplies production lines, manages warehouse organization, maintains inventory accuracy, and ensures timely material flow to support manufacturing operations. You will also manage the inventory tracking system to record deliveries, shipments, and stock levels.

We are hiring across the below shift:

  • Rotating days shift from 6AM - 6PM (including weekends)

How You Will Do It

  • Perform regular data analysis to anticipate inventory issues, identify trends, and develop mitigation strategies.

  • Supply product to production lines, maintain Inventory on Hand (IOH) levels, and ensure accurate daily transactions to support revenue targets.

  • Evaluate deliveries, shipments, and product levels to improve inventory control procedures.

  • Analyze daily product and supply levels to predict potential shortages or imbalances.

  • Collaborate with engineering, purchasing, and production to optimize material specifications, resolve availability or quality issues, and streamline processes.

  • Utilize inventory management software (SAP preferred) and forecasting techniques to optimize inventory levels.

  • Manage employee scheduling (shifts, breaks, vacations) to ensure adequate coverage.

  • Hire, train, coach, and develop team members; monitor performance and provide feedback and recognition.

  • Execute corporate objectives and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What We Look For

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 years of experience in inventory, warehousing, logistics, or a similar environment.

  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory or people‑management experience.

  • Strong knowledge of Inventory Management, Manufacturing, Warehousing, (SAP Knowledge is an asset)

  • Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

  • Strong understanding of Bill of Materials (BOM) structure and the ability to troubleshoot incomplete or conflicting data.

  • Experience with barcoding systems and barcoding inventory software.

  • Extensive knowledge of manufacturing Inventory, MRP/ERP systems, and inventory control  best practices.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and data analysis tools.

  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects, and track open items to completion.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration.
