Job Opportunity - Materials Manager

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Manufacturing, the Materials Manager will be responsible for the management of the Inventory Control and Shipping/Receiving functions and the development of their respective teams.

Responsibilities:
  • Direct and coordinate the flow of all raw materials, components, and supplies needed to produce finished product.
  • Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with all employees.
  • Perform accurate periodic and annual physical inventory counts by implementing and managing, in conjunction with Finance, an inventory control system capable of identifying discrepancies and taking corrective action to prevent future inconsistencies.
  • Coordinate and work with other internal departments to ensure on-time delivery and other objectives.
  • Analysis including but not limited to customer demand, supplier demand, inventory status reporting, manufacturing variance reporting, safety stock/Kanban and other business data.
  • Establish and maintain relevant KPIs to drive measureable improvement and accountability.
  • Participation and support of supplier development activities.
  • Provide training and error resolution for ERP operators.
  • Root Cause Analysis of inventory discrepancies and implementation of long-term solutions.
  • Research excess and obsolete inventory to provide input to Controller.
  • Ensure adherence to all shipping documentation standards and regulations in conjunction with Trade Compliance department.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements:
  • Minimum Associate's Degree and 3-5 years directly related experience in a management/supervisory role.
  • Large-scale ERP software knowledge.
  • Strong verbal and written communication.
  • Possess a familiarity with basic accounting practices.
  • Experience in a manufacturing setting preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel using simple macros, pivot tables, lookups, validation, etc.
