JOB DESCRIPTION:

This opportunity offers the chance to shape the future of coatings technologies across Andersen's diverse product portfolio. The role is responsible for developing and optimizing paints, stains, and application processes that directly influence product performance, quality, and manufacturing efficiency. Working closely with design, operations, and sourcing teams, this position leads high-impact initiatives that move coatings solutions from concept into production.

This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives on hands-on development, complex problem-solving, and the opportunity to influence strategic coating related decisions across multiple manufacturing sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead coatings material and process development initiatives that improve product performance, quality, and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Validate new coating technologies through testing, experimentation, and production-scale trials.
  • Support implementation of new coating materials and application processes across manufacturing operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams, other materials groups, and suppliers to deliver cohesive, innovative solutions.
  • Monitor emerging industry trends and assess applicability to Andersen products.
  • Provide technical expertise for materials-related inquiries, training, and specification development
  • Drive continuous improvement using DOE, FMEA, capability studies, and other statistical and quality tools.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related engineering discipline
  • Strong troubleshooting and hands-on problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated project management experience and success working in collaborative environments
  • Solid understanding of product development processes
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills across all organizational levels
  • Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with manufacturing operations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience using statistical analysis tools (Minitab, JMP, or similar)


Preferred Qualifications
  • 1+ years of engineering or technical experience in coatings development, testing, or process engineering
  • Working knowledge of coatings and exposure to related materials (adhesives, wood, composites, metals)
  • Experience in the fenestration industry or similar manufacturing environment
  • Background in materials analysis or advanced analytical techniques


PAY RANGE:
$69,840.00 - $104,760.00

PROFIT SHARING: In 2026 Andersen has set a profit-sharing target of $3,600 per eligible employee, prorated as appropriate. Profit Sharing will be paid out in quarterly installments to provide eligible employees with payments throughout the year, with payment amounts tied to quarterly operating profit performance.
