Full Job Description
Where is the work:
On-Site (5 days)

We have a great opportunity for a Material Planner to join our team at our Thermo King facility in Hastings, Nebraska. In this role, you will be an active team member responsible for planning and scheduling the delivery of materials from suppliers. This is a highly tactical position focused on monitoring the flow of purchased items, ensuring component availability to avoid material shortages and production downtime, and managing inventory levels to meet customer service and inventory targets.

What you will do:
  • Perform timely, cost-conscious procurement of production, inventory, and MRO items.
  • Receive and analyze requisitions to determine quantity, specifications, and delivery requirements.
  • Recommend and select suppliers from the approved supplier list to fulfill scheduled plant deliveries.
  • Support the onboarding of newly selected suppliers related to material planning.
  • Maintain up-to-date ABC classification for planning and other key inputs into the PFEP process.
  • Ensure optimal inventory levels and safety stock are maintained for assigned parts.
  • Coordinate with Quality Assurance to resolve supplier quality issues.
  • Proactively identify and manage shortages, including helping to flag root causes and corrective actions.
  • Identify total cost and cash flow opportunities with suppliers.
  • Analyze and select parts for Kanban and supplier replenishment.
  • Lead and direct others, as needed, to accomplish organizational objectives.
  • Expedite deliveries to meet or exceed critical scheduled requirements.
  • Maintain the material plan within the time fence to ensure continuity of supply.
  • Coordinate with production planners on solutions when parts cannot be delivered as promised.
  • Continuously evaluate supplier performance and escalate issues to Procurement when needed.
  • Resolve invoicing discrepancies with suppliers and Accounting.
  • Analyze material and capacity availability to provide customer promise dates for sales orders.
  • Maintain item master lead-time information based on process improvements, current constraints, demand by product family, and priority information.
  • Manage internal and SOMI/VMI material parameters to meet schedules.
  • Interface with required functional groups to resolve challenging delivery requirements.
  • Communicate forecasts and replenishment plans to suppliers.

What you will Bring:
  • BA/BS degree preferred, Experience in lieu of a degree will be considered.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage changing priorities.
  • 2+ years of planner/buyer manufacturing experience preferred.
  • APICS (CPIM) or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Skill in production and supplier scheduling preferred.
  • Knowledge of supplier processes and capabilities preferred.
  • Ability to provide direction and training to peers as needed.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • ERP experience preferred.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Experience with rate-based or flow-line environments preferred.
  • Experience in operations, inventory management, MRP, and lean manufacturing processes preferred.
  • Experience with visual management systems preferred.
