Full Job Description
As an Electronic Lab Technician II, you will play a key role in supporting the research, development, verification, and validation of advanced electronic products and systems. Working closely with engineers and cross-functional teams, you will build and maintain test environments, execute test plans, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, and contribute to the continuous improvement of product quality and performance. This position requires a strong technical background in electronics, hands-on laboratory experience, and a commitment to safety in a high-power testing environment.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $69000 - $101000 a year.

What you'll do:

Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) & Lab Operations (30%):
• Develop, build, and maintain test fixtures and equipment for embedded system verification and validation.
• Assemble and integrate rack-mounted hardware using electrical schematics, mechanical layouts, and engineering instructions.
• Fabricate, route, and terminate wire harnesses and cable assemblies.
• Perform soldering, PCB assembly, modification, and rework activities.
• Troubleshoot and resolve wiring, connectivity, and board-level hardware issues.
• Procure and manage parts, components, and lab consumables as needed.
• Coordinate acquisition of prototype and production hardware from manufacturing and communicate availability to stakeholders.
• Support shipping, receiving, tracking, and inventory management activities.
• Partner with IT teams to deploy laptops, configure equipment, establish network connectivity, maintain laboratory organization and calibration schedules, and communicate lab status, maintenance activities, and operational issues to project teams and management.

Verification & Testing (70%)
• Execute development, verification, and validation test plans for new and existing products.
• Develop and maintain automated test scripts using tools such as Robot Framework, Python, Selenium, or similar automation platforms.
• Utilize Hardware-in-the-Loop systems, preferably OPAL-RT, to verify product functionality, performance, and reliability.
• Conduct manual and automated testing in a high-power laboratory environment where hazardous voltages may be present.
• Analyze test results, identify failures, and troubleshoot hardware/software issues.
• Document defects and collaborate with engineering teams to drive root-cause analysis and resolution.
• Generate accurate test documentation and reports.
• Ensure compliance with Eaton safety standards.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to test processes, automation, and laboratory efficiency.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications
• Associate degree or Technical Certificate in Electronics Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 3 years of hands-on experience in an electronics laboratory, test engineering, or technical environment.
• 1+ years strong working knowledge of electronic test equipment and instrumentation, including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, digital multimeters, and power supplies.
• 1+ years experience troubleshooting electronic circuits, embedded systems, and laboratory equipment; effective verbal and written communication skills; and strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced development environment.

Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Solid understanding of electronic circuits, components, and electrical system fundamentals.
• Experience with electronic design and development tools, including schematic capture and PCB layout software.
• Experience with test management and defect tracking tools such as JIRA, Zephyr, or equivalent platforms.
• Experience with automated testing frameworks and scripting languages; programming experience in Python, C, or embedded system development environments; familiarity with HIL systems, real-time simulation platforms, and power electronics testing; knowledge of applicable industry standards, safety requirements, and compliance regulations; professional certification in electronics or related disciplines, such as IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620, IPC-7711/7721, Certified Electronics Technician (CET), or equivalent certification preferred; and demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex hardware and software interactions.
