Varstaff is looking for a Mass Properties Engineer II.
About the Job: In this role, you will perform detailed mass properties calculations, modeling, and analysis for cutting-edge aerospace components and systems. Supporting diverse projects ranging from advanced mission payloads to integrated aircraft and space exploration systems, you will build and maintain mass properties databases, conduct physical weighing and inventory of aircraft, and produce weight and balance documentation. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout the entire product lifecycle-from early design through testing and flight certification.
What We're Looking For Education & Experience- Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline (Master's degree may substitute for experience).
- 2+ years of relevant experience in aerospace or mechanical mass properties analysis and aircraft weight/balance.
- Demonstrated experience working within multi-disciplinary design and development teams.
Must-Have Skills- Mass Properties Analysis & Calculations: Hands-on experience performing detailed weight, balance, and mass properties calculations for complex aerospace systems and components.
- Database & Modeling Management: Ability to build, track, and maintain accurate mass properties models and inventory databases.
- Aircraft Weight & Balance: Experience conducting physical weighing, inventorying aircraft, and generating official weight and balance documentation.
- Core Engineering Principles: Fundamental understanding of structural, mechanical, and aerodynamic design principles across the product lifecycle.
Nice-to-Have Skills (Preferred)- Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Experience using advanced mass properties software, tools, and Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) / CAD applications.
- Knowledge of model-based definition, parametric design, and fundamentals of flight mechanics.
- Professional background in Aerospace & Defense, US Department of Defense (DoD), or US Military programs.
