Full Job Description
Marketing Programs Specialist III to join our marketing team. In this role, you will plan and execute field events that strengthen customer relationships, support pipeline, and bring the Rackspace brand to life in key markets. From executive dinners and partner activations to roadshows and industry conferences, you will own event logistics end-to-end and work closely with sales, marketing, and partners to deliver experiences that drive real business impact. The right candidate is organized, energetic, and hands-on, someone who takes ownership, manages details without losing sight of the bigger picture, and thrives in a fast-moving environment.

Work Location:
  • Must reside in the greater San Jose, CA metro area.
  • Travel 10% -20% annually.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Schedule, organize, set up, and conduct industry events, conferences, and trade shows.
  • Research industry events, conferences, and trade shows ensuring we are attending the most strategic events to enhance ROI.
  • Work collaboratively with Senior Leadership, Accounting, Finance, Sourcing, Legal, etc. to ensure the success of contracting events.
  • Works closely with Sales, Marketing, Corporate Communications, Senior Leadership, and other groups.
  • Create overall event plan.
  • Formulate intriguing message the prospect market.
  • Coordinate procurement of giveaways and collateral.
  • Plan additional marketing opportunities and booth activities.
  • Identify speakers and coordinate sessions.
  • Partner with outside creative agencies.
  • Select and train staffing.
  • Collaborate with partners to enhance Rackspace's presence and to help create a strategic product focus and theme around Rackspace events.
  • Manage all of the logistics and execution for Rackspace's involvement with events.
  • Work with show management, labor unions, city permits, and exhibit management companies.
  • Coordinate A/V arrangements.
  • Oversee event logistics including, but not limited to: Researching venues; booking events dates, room blocks, meeting space, and client dinners; registering Rackers and guests; managing guest lists; etc.
  • Responsible for using Salesforce, Marketo, and other marketing tools to create campaign codes and ensure all leads are placed into the appropriate campaign track post-show. Partners with Marketing Operations and Finance teams to track ROI on all tradeshows and industry events.
  • Research promotional opportunities, vendors, and marketing materials to develop ideas and implement promotions.
  • Act as a consultant to departments in planning and executing smaller events and meetings, dinners, happy hours, sales events, etc.
  • Recommend general seminar schedules and locales to managers and Field Sales Rackers to assist with finalizing a general plan to ensure complete marketplace coverage.


Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of corporate/professional event management or similar experience.
  • Excellent time management, writing, communication, decision-making, presentation, human relations, and organizational skills.
  • Detailed oriented.
  • Ability to successfully work and promote inclusiveness in groups of all sizes, helping lead teams towards a common goal.
  • Ability to communicate technical info and ideas so others will understand.
  • Ability to frequently represent Rackspace, to the outside market, through face-to-face interactions with customers, prospects, partners, and media.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several geographic markets. The compensation range for this position ranges from $84,769.00/year in our lowest geographic market up to 124,290.10 USD/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
