Full Job Description
About the Role

As the Marketing Manager of planning and resource management, you will report to the Chief of Staff and Director of Marketing Strategic Operations and serve as both the strategic and operational backbone of H&R Block's Marketing organization. You will lead the annual planning process end to end, oversee the marketing initiative portfolio, and build a unified roadmap and campaign calendar that keeps teams aligned, while driving integrated planning across stakeholders to create clear visibility into priorities, timelines, and dependencies.

You will also develop and maintain resource and capacity models that provide real-time insight into workload, constraints, and tradeoffs, helping leadership navigate shifting priorities and make informed decisions. In addition, you will support financial and operational governance by partnering with Finance and Procurement to ensure marketing investments are optimized, providing transparency into vendor spend, performance, and overall return on investment.

Day to day, you'll...
  • Lead end-to-end marketing planning, translating enterprise priorities into integrated plans, timelines, and a unified roadmap and campaign calendar that aligns cross-functional teams
  • Own and maintain full visibility into the marketing portfolio, tracking priorities, dependencies, timelines, and delivery status across all initiatives
  • Champion integrated planning across Marketing, Technology, Product, and Finance to ensure alignment on priorities, sequencing, and execution
  • Build and manage resource and capacity models that provide clear visibility into workload, constraints, and tradeoffs across the portfolio
  • Partner with leaders to align initiatives to capacity and budgets, proactively surfacing tradeoffs and supporting scenario planning for changing priorities
  • Oversee marketing investment governance, including budget tracking, forecasting, vendor spend visibility, and performance monitoring
  • Partner with Finance and Procurement to manage vendor relationships, contract commitments, and ensure accountability across external spend
  • Support development of business cases, investment frameworks, and decision-support materials to guide leadership decisions
  • Design and operate intake, prioritization, and workflow governance processes, supported by clear documentation and operating playbooks
  • Establish and lead operating cadences (such as planning reviews and syncs) while driving change management to improve adoption of tools, processes, and ways of working

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Operations, or a related field (or equivalent experience), with 7+ years of progressive experience in marketing operations, planning, or program management
  • Proven ability to lead complex, cross-functional work in fast-paced, matrixed environments, managing multiple stakeholders, priorities, and competing demands
  • Experience partnering with Finance, Procurement, or enterprise teams on budgets, vendor management, and investment governance processes
  • Strong familiarity with marketing work management platforms such as Workfront, Asana, Smartsheet, or Jira
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, along with experience using financial and procurement systems such as SAP, Workday, or Coupa
  • Exposure to AI-powered marketing tools, workflow automation, or operational intelligence solutions, with a focus on driving efficiency and innovation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to influence without formal authority, building alignment and driving progress across cross-functional teams through trust and credibility
  • Strong executive communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to simplify complexity and clearly convey insights to both leaders and partners
  • Operational rigor and a continuous improvement mindset, bringing structure to ambiguity and leaving processes better than you found them
  • Strategic thinking and curiosity, with a tendency to challenge assumptions, ask the right questions, and help shape priorities
  • Adaptability and collaboration, thriving in evolving environments while building strong, productive relationships across teams
  • Bias for action, demonstrating urgency, accountability, and consistent follow-through to deliver results sustainably
