Job Description:

DePuy Synthes is recruiting for a Marketing Manager, Knee Robotics located in USA, specifically in Boston, MA, Raynham, MA, Palm Beach Gardens, FL or Warsaw, IN. This position will require approximately 30-40% travel.

The Marketing Manager, Knee Robotics is a strategic upstream marketing leader responsible for helping shape the innovation strategy, technology roadmap, and future portfolio of the VELYS™ Robotic-Assisted Solution. As a subject matter expert in Knee Arthroplasty and Robotics, this individual will translate customer, clinical, and market insights into future New Product Development (NPD) opportunities. The role will support the NPD process for next-generation robotic and digital capabilities, with a specific focus on new Clinical Applications from concept through commercialisation.

  • Support the definition of the innovation strategy, technology roadmap, and portfolio for robotic-assisted surgery.


  • Identify customer needs, emerging technologies, and market opportunities through voice-of-customer, technology scouting, and market insights.


  • Develop business cases, target product profiles, and investment recommendations to guide portfolio and product development decisions.


  • Lead cross-functional innovation programmes, specifically new Clinical Applications, from concept through development, launch, and global commercialisation.


  • Influence senior leaders and drive alignment across a global matrix organisation while fostering innovation and collaboration.


The Marketing Manager, Knee Robotics will serve as a strategic leader and subject matter expert in Knee Arthroplasty, Robotics and Digital Surgery, supporting and shaping the long-term innovation strategy, technology roadmap, and multigenerational product portfolio for the VELYS Robotic-Assisted Solution. This person will be part of the upstream marketing team supporting the NPD process for new clinical applications for the VELYS Robotic-Assisted Solution, including future capability expansion and development (e.g. Connectivity, AI and Imaging integration). Additionally, this person will be the Knee Robotics team lead in partnering with the Advanced Technology team in the acquisition and communication of Competitor insights.

The Marketing Manager, Knee Robotics will report to the Sr. Marketing Manager, Knee Robotics, Digital Surgery.

Responsibilities Include

  • Serve as a strategic commercial leader and subject matter expert in Knee Arthroplasty, Robotics, and Digital Surgery, helping shape the long-term innovation strategy and technology roadmap for the VELYS™ Robotic-Assisted Solution.


  • Lead upstream marketing activities supporting the New Product Development (NPD) process, ensuring customer, clinical, and market insights are incorporated throughout product development.


  • Surgeon Team engagement and management.


  • Translate customer needs, market trends, and unmet clinical demands into product requirements, business cases, and strategic growth opportunities.


  • Support the definition and maintenance of a multigenerational product and technology roadmap aligned with customer, market and business needs.


  • Partner with R&D, Advanced Technology, Clinical Affairs, Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, and Commercial teams to define and execute the multigenerational Knee Robotics portfolio strategy.


  • Influence and align cross-functional stakeholders, key opinion leaders, and commercial teams to support portfolio prioritisation, strategic planning, and successful execution of innovation initiatives.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required; postgraduate qualification in a related field preferred.


  • 5+ years' experience in Marketing, Product Management, Strategy, Innovation, Engineering, or a related discipline.


  • Experience in Medical Devices, Orthopaedics (knee arthroplasty expertise is required), and Robotics or Surgical Navigation.


  • Proven track record developing product strategies, innovation roadmaps, technology portfolios, and business cases that inform investment decisions.


  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex, cross-functional initiatives from concept through commercialisation while influencing stakeholders in a matrix organisation.


  • Strong strategic, analytical, and commercial acumen with the ability to prioritize and deliver multiple high-impact initiatives with a high degree of autonomy.


  • Experience defining long-term strategic vision, translating insights into execution plans, and delivering measurable business results.


  • Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills.


  • Ability to work within cadaver lab and operating room environments is required.


  • Preferred: Experience leading surgeon advisory boards, customer engagement programs, market development initiatives, and innovation governance processes.


  • Preferred: Experience in Digital Health, Software, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Data Analytics.


Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone orthopaedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes.
