Full Job Description
The Marketing & Business Development Specialist supports the execution of business development initiatives across the Firm's Antitrust, Litigation, and Intellectual Property practices. Reporting to the Director of Business Development, the Specialist works closely with attorneys and members of the Marketing & Business Development team to support practice growth, client development, market positioning, and new business opportunities. This role is well suited for a proactive, highly organized professional who enjoys working collaboratively, managing multiple projects, and turning ideas into action.

Duties and Responsibilities

Business Development, Practice, Client and Attorney Support

  • Support the implementation of business development plans aligned with Firm and practice priorities.
  • Support targeted client and prospect outreach, including research, account planning, meeting preparation, materials, follow-up, and activity tracking.
  • Help identify opportunities to deepen client relationships, raise market visibility, generate new business, and encourage cross-practice collaboration.
  • Support client feedback and listening initiatives and help translate findings into actionable next steps.
  • Support individual attorney business development plans, conference preparation, networking, and targeted outreach, as well as the onboarding and integration of lateral attorneys.
  • Track progress against practice and attorney business development priorities.


Pitches, Proposals, and Pursuits

  • Coordinate pitches, RFP responses, proposals, and other new business opportunities from initial planning through submission.
  • Draft and tailor pitch materials to reflect client needs, relevant Firm experience, and key differentiators.
  • Conduct research, coordinate attorney and internal team input, and assist with pitch meeting and presentation preparation.
  • Maintain practice credentials, representative experience, attorney biographies, pitch decks, and proposal content.
  • Track pitch-related activity and outcomes.


Competitive Intelligence, Marketing Campaigns and Thought Leadership

  • Research clients, prospects, industries, competitors, and relevant market developments.
  • Monitor legal, regulatory, industry, and business trends to identify opportunities for client outreach, thought leadership, new business, and attorney or practice visibility.
  • Prepare concise research summaries, target lists, and actionable insights for attorneys and Practice Leadership.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and Marketing and Communications colleagues on client alerts, webinars, podcasts, events, sponsorships, speaking engagements, and other strategic campaigns.
  • Help maintain consistent practice messaging across pitches, website content, credentials, and other marketing materials.
  • Assist with legal directory, ranking, and award submissions as needed.


Collaboration and Operations

  • Collaborate with colleagues across Business Development, Marketing, Communications, Digital, Events, and Marketing Operations.
  • Track business development activities, opportunities, pipeline, outcomes, and relevant performance metrics.
  • Maintain accurate practice, client, contact, and experience information in Firm systems.
  • Assist with practice budgets, expense tracking, and evaluation of business development investments.
  • Help improve business development processes, templates, tools, reporting, and shared resources.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Education, Experience, and Skills Required:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 2--4 years of business development, marketing, client development, or related experience, preferably within a law firm or other professional services environment.
  • Experience supporting litigation, antitrust, intellectual property, investigations, regulatory, or another sophisticated legal practice is preferred.
  • Experience coordinating pitches, proposals, research, marketing initiatives, or client development activities.
  • Strong writing, editing, research, analytical, project management, and organizational skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build effective working relationships and collaborate across teams and offices.
  • Proactive, solutions-oriented approach with the ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Sound judgment and discretion when handling sensitive or confidential information.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with CRM, experience-management, and proposal-management systems is preferred.

Position Details

This is a full-time, benefits eligible, exempt level position. Final rate of pay will be commensurate with the incumbent's experience, with a targeted hiring range of $95,000 - $125,000 per year for Specialist, and $105,000 - $140,000 for Senior Specialist (with the upper end of the range reserved for highly qualified applicants). This position is currently available in our NY/DC office locations only.
