Description

The incumbent supports decisions related to the financial performance of Publix, its products and services, Publix Marketing campaigns, and transactional data linked to customers. They act as a Subject Matter Expert with broad knowledge in the field of data analytics, responsible for the development and deployment of Analytical Solutions that support store financial performance, Marketing measurement, and the output of which drive strategic recommendations. This includes using a data science approach to researching and gathering data, developing analytical methodologies, performing statistical analyses to glean insights, software coding, and deploying solutions.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for consulting and providing research-based recommendations to support strategic decision needs across the enterprise that require Marketing Analytics input.
  • Responsible for developing and implementing Analytical Solutions that address business questions faced by decision makers throughout the organization and translating the outputs of those solutions into actionable tools, insights and recommendations.
  • Applying the rigors of scientific methods to quantify the success of Publix experiments. The process requires gathering details about the test, developing a hypothesis, designing the test, selecting test and control stores or customers, executing the test, measuring the results, and reporting the findings.
  • Recommending customer-facing personalization measurement and test strategies to decision makers in Marketing and other business functions.
  • Utilizing data exploration and discovery techniques to explore data and search for insights. This most commonly includes conducting statistical analysis to determine trends and significant data relationships by using predictive software to create regression models (linear, logistic, Bayesian, stepwise, etc.), decision trees, correlation analysis, random forest models, and time series analysis.

Year End Bonus

As a year-end bonus to associates, Publix issues one month's extra pay (pro-rated in the first year) each year if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check that year. This is calculated as a 13th month of pay in the Potential Annual Pay with Bonus line above.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Analytics, Information Technology, Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, Geographic Information Systems, Engineering, or another analytical discipline from an accredited college or university or its equivalent.
  • 1 year experience writing SQL
  • 1 year experience writing R code or similar functionality within other statistical tools
  • basic knowledge of Python coding
  • knowledge of data and analytics using market business intelligence
  • ability to apply the appropriate advanced mathematics and statistics methods to large data sets, including, but not limited to, regression models (linear, logistic, Bayesian, stepwise, etc.), decision trees, correlation analysis, random forest models, cluster analysis, k-means, sum of squares and time series analysis
  • knowledge of and ability to apply Information Systems design methodologies, testing, processes and coding languages
  • ability to develop advanced data algorithms

  • ability to develop data visualizations
  • knowledge of and an ability to apply research best practices, including secondary research process and methods

  • MBA or Masters in Analytics, Information Technology, Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, Geographic Information Systems, Engineering, or another analytical discipline
  • 5 or more years of analytics, computer science, or GIS work-related experience
  • 3 years' experience writing SQL
  • 3 years' experience writing R code or similar functionality within other statistical tools
  • experience with distributed big data and cloud based tools
  • data Science Certificate
  • advanced knowledge of SharePoint Development
  • advanced knowledge of Power BI or similar data visualization tool
  • advanced knowledge of Publix business systems
  • expert knowledge of Alteryx and the Alteryx Server or similar Business Intelligence (BI) Tools
  • advanced knowledge of Big Data and cloud based machine learning and artificial intelligence tools such as Microsoft Azure, Hive, Presto or Hadoop
  • advanced knowledge of APT Test and Learn, Marketbasket Analyzer and Benchmarker
  • basic knowledge of C and C # languages
  • expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • ability to design intuitive end user interfaces
  • knowledge of other Publix Business Units, including their basic roles and responsibilities
  • broad knowledge of the data and analytics methods used by the Marketing Analytics and Consumer Insights function
