POSITION SUMMARY:

The Maritime Terminal Facilities Manager is responsible for the overall management, maintenance, and improvement of all terminal facilities, buildings, grounds, and supporting infrastructure. This role serves as the single point of accountability for facility operations and projects, ensuring assets are safe, functional, compliant, and aligned with terminal and business needs. The Facilities Manager partners closely with terminal leadership and operations to support daily activities while planning and executing facility and infrastructure initiatives in an active marine terminal environment. QUALIFICATIONS:

Required
  • A minimum of 5-8 years of experience overseeing facilities, infrastructure, or construction project management.
  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience in related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered
  • Strong project and vendor management skills.
  • Broad understanding of building systems and facility operations.
  • Ability to communicate in English at an intermediate to advanced level (speak, read, and write).
  • Intermediate level skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to plan, organize and direct the work of employees with varying skill levels.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must feel comfortable working in a mixed office-and-field environment within an active marine terminal, including regularly walking facilities and job sites as part of daily responsibilities.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a TWIC card within 60 days of employment.
  • Must be available to work flexible and extended hours, including nights, overtime, weekends, and holidays, and to respond to after-hours or emergency situations as required.

Preferred
  • Experience in industrial, port, logistics, transportation, or large commercial environments.
  • Experience working with CMMS platforms or project-tracking systems.
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish at an intermediate to advanced level (speak, read, and write).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Primary
  • Provide end-to-end oversight of all terminal facilities, including buildings, grounds, utilities, and infrastructure.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute facility maintenance, renovations, and improvement projects.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all facility-related needs at the terminal.
  • Manage contractors, vendors, and service providers to ensure quality, safety, and cost control.
  • Conduct inspections and assessments to identify maintenance, repair, and improvement needs.
  • Develop scopes of work, schedules, and budgets for facility-related projects.
  • Track project progress, costs, and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements (OSHA, port authority, fire code, etc.).
  • Support emergency response and after-hours facility needs as required.
  • Maintain records related to facilities, projects, permits, and vendor agreements.
  • Make staffing recommendations related to hiring, promotions, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
  • Manage department personnel to ensure operational functions are efficiently conducted. This includes provisions of necessary training, daily work assignments, work schedules, and related personnel administration (performance reviews, time-off, etc.).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Subject to physical and/or DOT screening if required, along with other applicable tests.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and follow written and verbal procedures and instructions.
  • Required to alternate between periods of sitting in an office setting and periods of standing and walking in field environments.
  • Frequently required to walk throughout facilities, including outdoor terminal areas and job sites.
  • Frequently required to reach forward and overhead, perform repetitive wrist and foot motions, and use fine motor skills/finger dexterity.
  • Frequently required to talk and hear.
  • Occasionally required to climb, balance, bend forward, squat/crouch, twist, and pinch.
  • Occasionally required to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 10 pounds.
  • Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:

Receives direct supervision from the Terminal Manager. The position is responsible for supervising the Facilities Maintenance team.

CONDITIONS:
  • Combination of office and field-based work, with duties performed both indoors and outdoors per business needs.
  • Indoor office environment with controlled temperature; noise levels may be busy due to open work areas, telephones, and customer activity.
  • Outdoor/shop-floor work may involve exposure to heat, rain, wind, and high humidity during day and night shifts.
  • Occasional work near moving mechanical parts.
  • Occasional exposure to dust, fumes, airborne particles, and certain chemicals.
  • Noise levels range from moderate to high depending on the task and location.
  • Moderate vibration may occur when using power tools or operating industrial equipment.
