DescriptionAre you interested in supporting the development of cutting-edge robotic systems?
Do you enjoy building, fabricating, installing, and testing complex systems in the field and/or onboard
maritime vessels?
Do you like the idea of working with engineers to prototype solutions to Navy operational challenges?
If so, we're looking for someone like you to join our team at APL.
We are seeking a Maritime Systems Technician to help us perform rapid prototyping and fielding for the
Navy's future uncrewed, robotic, and autonomous systems. You will be joining a hardworking team of
engineers who cultivate a fast-paced collaborative development environment to build, test, and deploy
a wide range of complex systems. These systems span the air, sea surface, and subsea domains which
all present their own unique and exciting technical and logistical challenges. You will contribute to the
development of technologies that enable the Navy's future uncrewed fleet.
As a Maritime Systems Technician, you will...- Primarily be responsible for providing electro-mechanical design, fabrication, assembly, and
troubleshooting for a variety of complex systems at APL and on field tests. - Support coordination and fabrication of parts and assemblies with the machine shop, engineers,
and other technicians within, or outside of, the lab. - Support field and at-sea testing onboard Navy platforms to include site surveys, ship checks,
installation, test and maintenance, and recovery of installed systems. - Support coordination of shop/high bay spaces, various vehicles/boats used for testing, and
complex material lists to support test efforts. - Maintain equipment needed for fabrication, assembly, and testing, as well as purchasing
general-purpose tools to support shop functions. - Manage and track fabrication work orders and associated parts for assembly, delivery, and
shipment purposes
