Marine Superintendent

The Opportunity
Reporting to Sr. Marine Manager, BMT and BSVF , the Marine Superintendent is responsible for ensuring that all vessels and terminals managed by Bridgemans Marine Transport (BMT) are utilized in the most cost-effective manner based on fleet and crew capabilities, crew change schedules, timing, location, and availability of facilities and/or vessels based on customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate vessel operations and respond to all operational requirements.
- Oversee crew scheduling and manage crew change logistics.
- Ensure full compliance with all marine safety regulations and standards.
- Maintain detailed records of vessel movements, weather conditions, and marine incidents.
- Supervise terminal operations, including cargo loading/unloading, storage, and material handling.
- Ensure terminal activities meet safety, environmental, and quality control standards.
- Monitor and supervise effluent discharge at the terminal, maintaining appropriate logs.
- Oversee terminal equipment performance and coordinate maintenance or repairs.
- Implement and oversee terminal security protocols and emergency response procedures.
- Manage and track vessel planned maintenance systems.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all marine and terminal operations (e.g., logs, permits, reports).
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly operational and compliance reports.
- Provide administrative support to operations, including managing office supplies and scheduling.
- Assist with budgeting, invoicing, and procurement related to marine and terminal operations.
- Coordinate meetings, crew training sessions, and compliance audits.
- Ensure HSSE (Health, Safety, Security, Environment) compliance across all marine operations.
- Support documentation and reporting for vessel and cargo movement activities.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies, Logistics, Port Operations, or a related field.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in marine coordination, terminal operations, or marine administration.
- Strong knowledge of port operations, marine logistics, and safety regulations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and marine operations software/systems.
- Excellent organizational, coordination, and multitasking abilities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Minimum experience sailing on board as a deckhand/ERA; sailing as an officer deck/engine is a strong asset.
