Full Job Description
Overall Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities - Prepare detailed analysis, design, and project deliverables including drawings, specifications and reports for general marine terminal infrastructure. - Prepare design criteria and construction specifications. - Prepare quantity take-offs and assist in the preparation of capital cost estimates. - Conduct field work and support during construction. - Attend project coordination meetings and liaise with project team members, clients, sub-consultants, contractors and regulatory and environmental approval agencies. - Liaise with clients to determine client requirements and prepare proposals, design work cost estimate, and project scheduling. - Mentor/direct junior staff and review their works. - Actively encourage and support a safety-oriented culture. - Travel as required for various field programs. Qualifications - The ideal candidate will have a degree in civil engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution (a master's degree is preferred). - Relevant years of experience in marine structural engineering/research, or a related discipline. - Registered or eligibility for registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer. - Design and inspection experience in marine structures including docks, marinas, ports, piers, steel sheet pile structures, steel, timber and concrete pile structures, floating structures and waterfront facilities. - Experience in large scale industrial and maritime projects. - Port layout and planning experience. - Experience with tides, currents, wave and wind forces. - Experience with berthing, mooring, and passing ship analysis. - Experience with seismic design, structural analysis software. - Experience with MOTEM standard. - Excellent organizational and time management skills. - Exceptional interpersonal skills and communication skills (written and verbal). For applicants based in the province of British Columbia, the salary range is CAD $91,594 to $164,514.
