Position Description & Qualifications

We are on the lookout for an enthusiastic Electrical Engineer to function as an Engineer at our Arlington, VA office. In addition to, the successful candidate will mentor junior engineers and engage in the design, construction, support, and evaluation of high-performance maritime systems for various customers. This opportunity is ideal for those looking to impact the maritime engineering field and work on programs that blend traditional excellence with innovative solutions.

This position is contingent upon your ability to obtain a DoD Secret level clearance post-employment.

In this role, you will:
  • Develop power/control system hardware and software drawings, schematics, test procedures, and specifications, applying industry and regulatory body requirements appropriate and applicable to the ship design; such as ABS SVR, IEEE 45, NFPA, CFR46, and MIL Specifications
  • Develop baseline requirements and architecture for New Construction ships based on acquisition and requirements documents
  • Interface externally with vendors and customers to ensure the delivered system meet technical performance specifications
  • Evaluates designs of shipboard machinery control and monitoring systems, interior communication systems, and integrates instrumentation and alarm functions for these systems
  • Travel onboard naval ships and support install or troubleshoot of Power Systems for hardware and software.

To be successful in this role, you must have:
  • A Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 2 years of experience in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance post-employment
  • A minimum of two (2) years of progressive experience in one of the following marine fields: electric propulsion systems; machinery control systems; power generation and distribution systems; or interior communications systems.
  • Knowledge of MS Office 2010 (Excel, Word, Outlook), MATLAB, Simulink, Simulink Coder (Real-Time Workshop), and PLC programing
  • Have the ability to execute a ship check at a shipyard or Naval Base
  • Experience writing requirements and drafting Statement of Work (SOW) and Technical Instruction
  • Knowledge of ABS SVR, IEEE 45, CFR46, NFPA, and MIL specifications
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Applicants must be able to work well alone and as part of a team.

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
