Manufacturing Technology Specialist

As a Manufacturing Technology Specialist you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
- Identifying and evaluating manufacturing process and equipment deficiencies, drive solutions and determine priority and implement a path to execution.
- Providing guidance, leadership to plant level personnel in best practices for process and equipment operation as well as preventative maintenance.
- Providing support towards capital project justifications.
- Determine equipment and MES improvement priorities to determine the best path forward for resolution including repair or replacement.
- Using data-based tools and methodologies to identify improvement recommendations and drive appropriate actions.
- This position has responsibilities to utilize their expertise and project leadership skills to drive substantial improvements in process performance and equipment uptime.
- Leading operational excellence at all four IMP mining plants (Corona, Little Rock, Pittsboro, Wausau) through conscientious management and decisive actions in environment, health, safety, quality, manufacturing, cost, and employee relations.
- Leads and supports projects that have high impact on plant performance and yield.
- Ability to work effectively across multiple sites.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
- Five (5) year(s) of experience in one or more of the following areas: Engineering or manufacturing technical field in a private, public, government, or military environment
- Five (5) years of experience in heavy industrial operations including equipment maintenance.
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Prior experience in mineral processing, manufacturing process & maintenance of heavy equipment
- Experience with mining operations and related crushing & screening equipment a plus
- Strong data and analytics skills
- Experience engaging with production and maintenance organizations.
- Self-starter/self-directed that leads with high energy and passion.
- Demonstrated experience in project management.
- Ability to work with cross functional teams and across multiple functions/disciplines.
- Effective facilitation, communication, and teaching skills.
- Ability to understand and apply analytical and statistical tools.
- Experience and certification with Lean Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
- Experience in operational excellence, lean implementation, and financial accounting.
- Experience in Mining or heavy industrial applications and equipment
Work location:
- Work location: This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work at least three days a week at the 3M Center in Maplewood, MN. Alternative locations include: Corona (CA), Little Rock (AK), Pittsboro (NC), and Wausau (WI)
- Travel: May include up to 15% domestic
- Relocation: May be authorized
