Manufacturing Opportunity: Manufacturing & Technology Production Specialist

We are currently looking for a Manufacturing & Technology Production Specialist to join our Manufacturingteam located at our office in Charlotte, NC. Our ideal candidate for a Manufacturing & Technology Production Specialist is someone with 7-10+ years of experience who will be responsible for leading the integration of technology, manufacturing processes, and fabrication operations to drive safety, quality, efficiency, and on-time delivery across multiple fabrication facilities. This role partners closely with Virtual Design & Construction (VDC), Project Management, and shop leadership to optimize production workflows, implement new technologies, standardize processes, and improve overall operational performance. The position also provides strategic oversight of production planning, capital projects, and continuous improvement initiatives while supporting the company's continued growth.

Primary responsibilities for icon's Manufacturing & Technology Production Specialist include:

  • Lead the integration of technology and production processes into fabrication operations to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency.
  • Research, evaluate, and implement emerging fabrication technologies, manufacturing methods, and digital tools.
  • Develop, standardize, and maintain fabrication processes, work instructions, and best practices across all facilities.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on workflow optimization, waste reduction, and operational excellence.
  • Ensure fabrication operations consistently meet production schedules and customer delivery commitments.
  • Develop, monitor, and report key fabrication and manufacturing performance metrics (KPIs), identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Oversee production scheduling and capacity planning for the Charlotte fabrication facility.
  • Coordinate production priorities between VDC, Project Management, Procurement, and Shop Leadership to maximize efficiency and resource utilization.
  • Implement and manage digital fabrication technologies to improve accuracy, automation, and production performance.
  • Coordinate with leadership to manage capacity constraints through qualified outsourced fabrication partners.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action investigations for safety, quality, production, and operational issues.
  • Ensure fabrication teams receive complete, accurate, and timely production drawings and documentation.
  • Lead capital expenditure (CAPEX) planning and execution for equipment, technology, and facility improvements at the Granite City and Cedar Hill locations.
  • Develop and maintain strong cross-functional relationships to support operational goals and company objectives.
  • Support organizational growth through process development, scalability planning, and implementation of operational best practices.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Primary qualifications for icon's Manufacturing & Technology Production Specialist include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related field preferred.
  • 7-10+ years of progressive experience in fabrication, manufacturing, or construction operations leadership.
  • Experience with complex manufacturing operations.
  • Strong understanding of fabrication processes, production planning, scheduling, and manufacturing systems.
  • Experience implementing digital fabrication technologies and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar process improvement principles is preferred.
  • Experience managing capital improvement (CAPEX) projects.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate across engineering, project management, VDC, procurement, and production teams.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
