Job Overview
The Manufacturing Quality Engineer - Calibration & Metrology is responsible for ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and compliance of measurement systems used in aerospace manufacturing. This role leads calibration programs, measurement system analysis, and metrology strategy to ensure product conformity and adherence to AS9100, ISO 17025, and customer requirements. The engineer partners with manufacturing, quality, and engineering teams to maintain robust measurement processes critical to aerospace safety and performance.
This is an onsite position, located at our Mansfield, OH site.
Job Requirements
- Calibration & Metrology Leadership
- Develop, implement, and maintain the calibration program for inspection, measuring, and test equipment (IMTE)
- Ensure compliance with ISO 17025, ANSI/NCSL Z540.3, and AS9100 requirements
- Oversee calibration intervals, methods, and traceability to NIST or equivalent standards
- Evaluate measurement uncertainty and ensure suitability of measurement systems for intended use
- Manage external calibration vendors and internal calibration laboratory activities
- Measurement System Analysis (MSA)
- Lead Gage R&R studies, bias, linearity, and stability analyses to assess measurement capability
- Establish acceptance criteria and drive improvements in measurement system performance
- Support statistical analysis and ensure alignment with product tolerances and GD&T requirements
- Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Ensure measurement processes comply with customer, regulatory, and internal quality requirements
- Lead investigations for out-of-tolerance (OOT) conditions, including product impact assessments
- Manage calibration-related Nonconformance Reports (NCRs) and corrective actions
- Support internal, customer, and regulatory audits related to metrology and calibration systems
- Manufacturing & Engineering Support
- Provide technical expertise on measurement methods, equipment selection, and process capability
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T for measurement strategy development
- Support First Article Inspections (FAI) per AS9102, ensuring measurement validity
- Collaborate with manufacturing and design teams to resolve measurement discrepancies
- Continuous Improvement
- Drive improvements in calibration processes, data integrity, and metrology systems
- Implement digital calibration systems and automation tools where applicable
- Support Lean/Six Sigma initiatives related to measurement accuracy and process capability
- Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies related to measurement systems
What your background should look like
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Metrology, Quality, or related technical discipline
- 3+ years of experience in quality engineering, calibration, or metrology, preferably in aerospace or regulated industries
- Strong knowledge of:
- Calibration systems and standards (ISO 17025, ANSI Z540.3)
- Measurement uncertainty and traceability
- GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
- Experience with Measurement System Analysis (MSA) techniques
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications
- ASQ Certification(s):
- Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)
- Certified Calibration Technician (CCT)
- Six Sigma Green or Black Belt
- Experience with advanced metrology equipment:
- CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machines)
- Optical/vision systems
- Laser tracking or scanning systems
- Familiarity with AS9102 (FAI), SPC, PFMEA, and control plans
- Experience with calibration management software (e.g., GAGEtrak, Calypso, PC-DMIS, etc.)

COMPENSATION
• Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $81,000 - $121,600 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
• Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
• Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
