Overview
The Manufacturing & Fabrication Data Analyst is responsible for collecting, analyzing, maintaining, and reporting operational and financial data across fabrication facilities and manufacturing operations. This role serves as a key business partner to fabrication leadership, project management, operations, and customers by developing and maintaining key performance indicators (KPIs), dashboards, scorecards, and customer-facing reports that drive operational excellence, profitability, quality, safety, and delivery performance.The position supports data-driven decision-making by transforming complex manufacturing and fabrication data into actionable insights. The Manufacturing & Fabrication Data Analyst will ensure accuracy of reporting, identify trends and improvement opportunities, and support strategic initiatives through advanced analytics and performance measurement.
Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities include:
- Data Management & Reporting
- Collect, validate, organize, and maintain manufacturing, fabrication, labor, production, quality, and financial data from multiple systems and sources
- Develop and maintain standardized reporting structures for fabrication operations and customer reporting requirements
- Create recurring daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly operational performance reports
- Ensure data integrity, consistency, and accuracy across all reporting platforms
- Consolidate data from ERP, project management, scheduling, production tracking, and financial systems
- KPI Development & Performance Analytics
- Develop, monitor, and analyze key performance indicators including:
- Revenue and backlog
- Labor productivity
- Shop utilization
- On-time delivery
- Production throughput
- Earned hours vs. actual hours
- Scrap and rework rates
- Safety performance metrics
- Quality performance metrics
- Inventory performance
- Project profitability
- Provide analysis of operational trends, risks, and opportunities
- Identify root causes of performance variances and recommend corrective actions
- Support continuous improvement initiatives through performance measurement and benchmarking
- Customer Reporting & Communication
- Prepare customer-facing reports that communicate project and production performance
- Develop dashboards and visual scorecards that clearly communicate manufacturing and fabrication progress
- Coordinate with project managers and operational leadership to ensure customer reports accurately reflect project status and performance
- Support customer meetings by providing analytical data and presentation materials
- Respond to customer requests for operational, production, and performance data
- Dashboard Development & Business Intelligence
- Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards and data visualization tools
- Create automated reporting processes that improve efficiency and reduce manual effort
- Develop executive-level scorecards and operational dashboards
- Partner with IT and business stakeholders to improve reporting capabilities and data accessibility
- Support implementation of data governance and reporting standards
- Financial & Operational Analysis
- Analyze fabrication and manufacturing costs to identify trends and opportunities for improvement
- Support budget planning, forecasting, and financial performance tracking
- Monitor labor performance and productivity metrics against operational targets
- Assist leadership in evaluating facility, departmental, and project performance
- Develop ad hoc analyses and business cases supporting strategic initiatives
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Operations, Project Management, Finance, Safety, Quality, Procurement, and Leadership teams
- Support standardization of reporting methodologies across fabrication facilities
- Facilitate data-driven decision making through clear communication of analytical findings
- Assist with special projects focused on operational excellence and performance improvement initiatives
- Participate in process improvement efforts related to data collection, reporting, and performance measurement
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Data Analytics, Finance, Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Statistics, Economics, or related field
- 2+ years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, manufacturing analytics, or operational reporting
- Experience developing KPIs, scorecards, and performance dashboards
- Experience working with large data sets and multiple data sources
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables, Power Query, and advanced formulas
- Experience creating reports and dashboards using Power BI or similar business intelligence platforms
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
