Full Job Description
Leidos' Defense Systems Electronics Manufacturing is seeking a Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) Specialist to support our Electronics Manufacturing Facility. This is an excellent opportunity for mid-career professionals that are eager to apply their skills in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

MES Support and Configuration
  • Support the development and modification of MES workflows, routings, work instructions, bills of material, production data collection, and material genealogy requirements.
  • Translate manufacturing and engineering requirements into standardized MES processes and system configurations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing workflows, data capture, system usability, and process efficiency.
  • Support configuration and administration of MES functions including workflow management, BOM management, production records, user access, and data integrity.

Implementation and Configuration
  • Participate in MES implementation and deployment activities, including requirements definition, configuration, testing, validation, go-live, and post-implementation support.
  • Configure manufacturing process flows to support standard production operations, rework activities, alternate routings, repair processes, and other non-standard manufacturing scenarios.
  • Develop and maintain electronic work instruction templates and manufacturing process documentation within the MES environment.
  • Support configuration of material genealogy, serialization, lot traceability, and production data collection requirements.
  • Assist with integration and data flow between MES and enterprise systems such as ERP, PLM, manufacturing planning, and engineering data management systems.
  • Support implementation and standardization of MES processes across manufacturing departments, programs, and sites.

Technical Support and Troubleshooting
  • Provide day-to-day support for MES-related production issues and user questions.
  • Serve as a point of contact for operators, technicians, engineers, and operations personnel regarding MES functionality and manufacturing workflows.
  • Troubleshoot system and process issues related to routing, work instructions, BOMs, production records, data collection, and material traceability.
  • Coordinate with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Business Applications, IT, and other functional teams to resolve MES-related production issues.
  • Assist in identifying root causes of recurring system or process issues and implementing corrective or preventive improvements.

Optimization and Documentation
  • Review existing MES configurations and manufacturing workflows to identify opportunities for process improvement and standardization.
  • Support continuous improvement activities focused on manufacturing efficiency, data accuracy, traceability, process control, and user experience.
  • Maintain accurate and current documentation for MES configurations, workflows, routings, processes, system changes, and training materials.
  • Support the development and implementation of MES standards and best practices across manufacturing operations.
  • Assist in ensuring manufacturing processes and MES configurations remain aligned with engineering, quality, and operational requirements.

Training and Collaboration
  • Provide hands-on support during MES implementation, testing, deployment, and production launch activities.
  • Develop and conduct training for operators, technicians, engineers, and other MES users.
  • Create user guides, training materials, and standard work instructions to support consistent use of MES tools.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Business Applications, and Information Technology.
  • Work directly with shop-floor personnel to understand manufacturing challenges and develop practical MES solutions.
  • Act as a resource for MES-related topics and participate in meetings, workshops, process reviews, and continuous improvement activities.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Candidate must possess a BS Degree and 2-4 years of prior relevant experience or a Masters degree with 0-2 years of prior relevant work experience Candidates with associates degree with 6 + years of experience will be considered for this role.
  • 1+ years of experience working with a Manufacturing Execution System (MES), manufacturing information system, or similar software used to manage production routing, work instructions, bills of material, manufacturing data, or production records.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, production routings, bills of material, work instructions, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Working knowledge of computer-based manufacturing business systems, data management, and reporting.
  • General understanding of interactions between MES and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
  • Candidate must reside in the North Alabama area or be willing to relocate to the Huntsville/North Alabama area.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Solumina MES, including configuration, administration, production support, or implementation.
  • Experience with Costpoint or similar ERP and material planning systems.
  • Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) or engineering data management systems.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $59,150.00 - $106,925.00
