  • Document tool activity, update operating instructions, and share lessons learned

Job Description

onsemi is looking for an experienced Equipment Engineer that can participate in electrical/mechanical root cause analysis; develop and implement manufacturing equipment related improvements; and maintain a safe working environment. This position will oversee diffusion furnaces, ion implant, metals deposition, and Akrion wets benches in a 1,000 class cleanroom. In this team-based environment, you will work closely with equipment technicians, process engineering, and production engineering to provide high quality products to our customers. The supported production equipment is critical for the manufacturing of semiconductor components used in Automotive and Consumer applications throughout the world.

Shift: 8:00am-5:00pm (first shift) - Monday to Friday

Responsibilities

Monitors the wafer fabrication equipment and responds to equipment related issues
• Qualifies new manufacturing equipment in coordination with the process engineering team
• Own equipment performance, reliability, and lifecycle management for assigned toolsets
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards
• Mentor technicians and support technical skill development within the company
• Manage vendor support & coordinate cross department risk mitigation
• Provide on call support to technicians, create & run recovery plans
• Uses software to analyze data, identify trends to make decisions about processing product
• Apply 5S+ & Lean principles to identify and mitigate production bottlenecks
• Document daily tool activity; update OIs & share lessons learned
• Develop, lead, and implement projects for cost/defect/downtime reduction & part life extension

Qualifications

BS or MS in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Material Science, or related field
• 5+ years of semiconductor experience highly desired with knowledge of Photolithography, Wafer Thinning, or Metallization production equipment preferred
• Experience utilizing Structured Problem Solving Methods (8D, fishbone diagrams)
• Change Point Management experience and understanding of Lean, TPS, or 5S+ principles
• Software Data Analysis software (Spotfire, JMP, Matlab, etc.)
• Troubleshooting Equipment or Process failures
• Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word
• Excellent verbal & written communication
• Ability to wear clean room suit and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and lift < 35 lbs as well as work in tight fitting, FAB environment and sit at a computer for an extended period of time
• This position will be exposed to yellow lights, blinking lights and potential to work with materials which contain hazardous chemicals
• Ability to discern audible alarms
• Ability to identify potential hazards and implement improved safety measures
