Full Job Description
GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

To lead the planning and execution of the work efforts for Process and Manufacturing Engineering to drive correct manufacturing methods and procedures for product manufacturing to meet quality, cost, and schedule objectives. To develop, in a collaborative environment, bottoms up estimates for the manufacturing, assembly, and integration of product.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Directs the efforts of assigned staff, including supervision of staff and associated personnel actions.
  • Prepares quotes for labor and materials by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Sales, Engineering, Operations, and Sourcing to develop quotes.
  • Computes costs by analyzing labor and material utilizing history and work standards.
  • Maintains cost database by entering and backing up data.
  • Ensures department work areas are safe, healthy, and environmentally compliant through training, implementation of EHS policies, and continuous improvement.
  • Interfaces with supporting departments such as Engineering and Quality Assurance.
  • Ensures adequate resources are in place for employees to perform daily operations, including materials, tools, and training to:
    • Introduction of new products from design into manufacture, Generates Bills of Material (BOM's) for use in procuring required material for job.
    • Generates requests for any required tooling, and assure that the tooling, etc., is correct on documentation.
    • Supports the Contracts department with customer changes.
    • Works with Engineering on specification call outs and changes.
    • Interprets drawings and assists in resolving customer and manufacturing questions.
    • Assists the Sales department with new quotes by generating BOM's.
    • Continually looks for opportunities to improve manufacturing time and cost.
    • Update Work Instructions and procedures for best manufacturing methods.
    • Manufacturing process development and implementation; including process improvement for cost & quality.
    • Provides engineering technical support to production staff to meet production goals including line layouts for efficient manufacturing flow.
    • Initiate process improvements - Interface with other departments on implementation.

Documentation and Training
  • Responsible to develop, document, and implement manufacturing instructions, layouts and procedures.
  • Ensure workplace instructions and guides are visible and documentation is controlled.
  • Ensure understanding of documentation by end-users.
  • Participate in the training and certification of operators at key operations.
  • Analyzes and implements Corrective Action Requests and provides feedback for continuous improvement.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • AA/AS or BA/BS degree in a technical field, manufacturing or industrial disciplines preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years related experience in manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of shop equipment, machinery, and manufacturing processes.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Office environment.
  • Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, 10-key, phones).
  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds.

May need to travel up to 25%.
