Manufacturing Engineer

Overview:

The Manufacturing Engineer provides technical support to manufacturing operations by implementing new products, processes, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role ensures efficient, cost-effective, and high-quality production through process development, testing, and engineering support.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process Development & Improvement
    • Develop, implement, and improve manufacturing processes to support new and existing products.
    • Perform time studies to validate labor standards and improve production efficiency.
    • Identify and reduce manufacturing variability by collaborating with Product Engineering, Production, and Maintenance teams.
    • Lead cost reduction initiatives and implement process improvements across operations.
    • Lead manufacturing projects
  • Testing & Validation
    • Design and conduct developmental and acceptance tests for military and international contracts.
    • Fabricate engineering prototypes for testing and evaluation.
    • Source new vendors and qualify parts
  • Engineering & Technical Support
    • Provide CAD support for component drawings, layouts, and work center design.
    • Oversee justification, planning, and execution of capital projects, ensuring alignment with budgets and schedules.
    • Research and analyze new methods, equipment, materials, and procedures to optimize performance and cost.
  • Continuous Improvement & Lean Initiatives
    • Lead Lean manufacturing projects using Kaizen, 6S, and other classical Lean techniques.
    • Evaluate production capacity and recommend enhancements to increase throughput and efficiency.


Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in engineering, or related field; Bachelor's degree in manufacturing, mechanical, or industrial engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in manufacturing, engineering, process improvement
  • Strong working knowledge of Lean principles and tools, with proven success leading Kaizen and 6S projects or manufacturing processes
  • Proficiency in CAD software, SolidWorks
  • Demonstrated experience managing capital equipment projects and facility layout initiatives
  • Ability to manage projects using continuous improvement methodologies
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to write reports, deliver presentations, and collaborate across teams
