Job Responsibilities:

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Intermediate Manufacturing Engineer is primarily responsible for administration of current production program activites. They follow up both internally and at customer assembly plants and are responsible for all engineering changes, quality issues and continuous improvement activity related to current production. This position may also participate in and support launch team on new launches, and quote both current and new programs.

PAY GROUP: GROUP 6 - SALARY

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Engineering degree or equivalent combination of education in a work related field or a Skilled Trade Certificate of Qualification.
  • 5 years of work experience in an Automotive Engineering Environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Products and working knowledge of CAD Systems.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintain safety standards of equipment and work area and perform all duties in a safe manner in accordance with the safety policies of Karmax. Perform all duties in a safe manner in accordance with Section 28 of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations for Industrial Establishments.

Definitions:

"Worker" means a person who performs work or supplies services for monetary compensation but does not include an inmate of a correctional institution or like institution or facility who participate inside the institution or facility in a work project or rehabilitation program.

Duties of Workers

28. (1) A worker shall,

(a) work in compliance with the provisions of this Act and the regulations;

(b) use or wear the equipment, protective devices or clothing that the worker's employer requires to be used or worn;

(c) report to his or her employer or supervisor the absence of or defect in any equipment or protective device of which the worker is aware and which may endanger himself, herself or another worker; and

(d) report to his or her employer or supervisor any contravention of this Act or the regulations or the existence of any hazard of which he or she knows.

(2) No worker shall,

(a) remove or make ineffective any protective device required by the regulations or by his or her employer, without providing an adequate temporary protective device and when the need for removing or making ineffective the protective device has ceased, the protective device shall be replaced immediately;

(b) use or operate any equipment, machine, device or thing or work in a manner that may endanger himself, herself or any other worker; or

(c) engage in any prank, contest, feat of strength, unnecessary running or rough and boisterous conduct.

Follow Magna's Code of Conduct and Ethics and related compliance policies. Prepares reports, charts and other documentation required for engineering changes, records and projects. Establishes, 8-D problem solving corrective actions methods and procedures. Compile and update PFMEA's, and coordinate Corrective Actions with plant including representing Karmax at Customer locations. Supports plant by recommending productivity and systems improvements and/or assist with ongoing issues. Supports Manager, Dept. Leader, and Senior Engineers in program establishment and follow-up of all program stages (timing, concept, feasibility, design, construction, try-out, launch, final buy-off, prototype programs, engineering changes, service parts Prepares Drawings, service part updates, Material Requisitions, Material Specifications and KEC's, as required by customers, vendors or other departments. Deals with customer and vendors - Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Develops process/design concepts and tool designs to prescribed Karmax and Cosma standards for optimum productivity. Assists in developing quotations for piece price, tooling and capital costs. Assists in developing manufacturing feasibility and seeks out process and or part changes if required to achieve feasibility. Assist in the follow-up of new tooling programs to contain costs, timing and quality requirements through all phases including prototype, die construction, tool prove out, buy-off and program launch. Work with customers, vendors and other departments to implement the following: engineering changes, quality improvements, continuous productivity improvements, cost reduction programs Prepares detailed material requisitions, bills of material, drawings, spare part requirements, project status reports and maintains engineering records and standards. Perform all duties in an environmentally responsible manner in accordance with the Karmax Environmental Policy Statement-3 P's. Prevent Pollution, Preserve Natural Resources & Protect our Environment Perform other duties as required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Must be able to travel internationally on occasion for customer related concerns or launch activity.
  • Must be able to work in various locations within and outside the Manufacturing Plant
  • Must be able to work outside of normal office hours to meet needs of assigned departments of responsibility with a Minimum amount of Supervision
  • Lifting up to 20 kgs
  • Exposed periodically to elements such as temperature and noise
  • Office environment within a manufacturing operation
