Manufacturing Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Position Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineer's role, working under the direction of the Production Manager is to ensure all that all production activity within Merak is performed safely and efficiently by providing the necessary tooling, technology and traceable processes to support Merak profitability and sustained growth.

Essential Functions
  • Designs and implements effective and efficient tooling and devices with emphasis on safety and reliability.
  • Provides and maintains operation instructions for equipment and processes via the SAP routing module or TWI's
  • Evaluates and improves manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors
  • Develop manufacturing processes by studying product requirements
  • Researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors
  • Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout
  • Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes
  • Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements
  • Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
  • Provides manufacturing engineering information by answering questions and requests
  • Completes design and development projects by training and guiding technicians
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Develops, investigates and implements cost reduction efforts and related activities to reduce product and operating cost. Recommend material and product design modifications for the purpose of reducing cost or improving quality.
  • Fosters safety and efficiency via lean manufacturing principles
  • Must be able to follow instructions, safety & environmental rules and regulations. Documents, implements and manages capital expense endeavors.
  • Engage in special projects related to new contract demands
  • Act as Team Lead for ME Department

The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in Westminster, MD is $75,900 to $113,900 per year. The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, the type of years and experience within the industry and education. Westminster Merak RAIL is a multi-state employer, and this pay scale may not reflect positions that work in other states or locations. Provided they meet all eligibility requirements under the applicable plan documents, employees (and their eligible dependents) will be eligible to enroll in group healthcare plans that offer medical, dental, vision, and basic life and disability insurance. Employees also will be able to enroll in our company's 401k plan. Employees will also receive 120 hours of vacation leave and 40 hours of Personal Paid Absence every year. Employees will also enjoy 12 paid holidays, and 1 floating holiday throughout the calendar year, subject to relevant terms outlined in the employee handbook. 6 weeks of paid parental leave will also be available for use. Requirements for these benefits will be controlled by applicable plan documents and policies. Employees working on federal contracts covered by the Federal Paid Sick Leave requirements will be notified and will receive benefits consistent and compliant with the FPSL requirements. Hired applicant will be able to purchase company stock, subject to the relevant plan documents and annual bonuses based on achievement of certain metrics of up to 4% of annual salary.
