Lucid is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to develop, launch, validate, sustain, and continuously improve manufacturing equipment and processes within the Powertrain Drive Unit organization. Assigned to the Stator + Rotor team, this engineer will combine hands-on equipment expertise with structured, data-driven problem solving. The role owns assigned stations and processes from concept, specification, and supplier engagement through installation, commissioning, validation, production ramp, optimization, and operational handoff. The engineer will partner with Product Engineering, Manufacturing Operations, Quality, Automation and Controls, Maintenance, Facilities, Logistics, Supply Chain, and equipment suppliers.
Key Responsibilities- Participate in DFM/DFA reviews and translate product requirements into safe, capable, maintainable, and scalable manufacturing processes.
- E-motor assembly, joining, press operations, bearing installation, torque-controlled fastening, material handling, and automated component
- Motor dynotesting and in-process or end-of-line functional testing.
- Inverter assembly including controlled fastening, dispensing, laser welding, automated handling, traceability, and functional testing.
- High- and low-voltage test safety, isolation and hipottesting, sequencing, limit management, data collection, false-fail reduction, and test-system integration.
- Develop manufacturing concepts, process requirements, equipment specifications, scopes of work, RFQ packages, technical bid reviews, and supplier-selection inputs.
- Coordinate cross-functional design reviews for assigned stations, tooling, automated equipment, and factory integration requirements.
- Support supplier build, runoff, installation, utility readiness, commissioning, debug, and production integration.
- Plan and execute FAT, SAT, equipment qualification, process validation, capability studies, Run-at-Rate, and final acceptance against safety, quality, cycle time, throughput, reliability, maintainability, traceability, and specification requirements.
- Lead structured problem-solving using methods such as 8D, 5 Why, Six Sigma, DOE, fault-tree analysis, and root cause analysis.
- Provide hands-on ramp support, containment, recovery planning, and corrective action for equipment and process issues.
- Improve first-pass yield, process capability, scrap, rework, cycle time, throughput, uptime, reliability, and error-proofing; identifybottlenecks and standardize validated solutions.
- Evaluate engineering changes for product, tooling, process, equipment, controls, validation, documentation, cost, and implementation impacts.
- Develop process documentation, manufacturing instructions, parameter standards, PFMEAs, troubleshooting guides, spare-partsand recovery plans, training inputs, and operational handoff packages.
- Track schedules, technical risks, open issues, recovery actions, and readiness for launch and Start of Production milestones; capture lessons learned and reusable standards.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering, or a closely related discipline; equivalent relevant education and experience may be considered where permitted.
- Two or more years of relevant experience in manufacturing, process or equipment engineering, industrialization, automation integration, or high-volume production.
- Experience supporting the design, launch, integration, validation, or sustaining of automated manufacturing equipment.
- Working knowledge of mechanical systems, tooling, fixtures, manufacturing tolerances, GD&T, equipment controls and robotics, and safety circuits.
Preferred Qualifications- Direct EV Powertrain experience involving E-Motor, Inverter, Stator, Rotor, Drive Unit assembly, or end-of-line test.
