Role Definition

As a Manufacturing Engineer - Industry 4.0 in the Large Power Systems Division at Caterpillar, located in Lafayette, IN, you will have an opportunity to provide the technical expertise, leadership and guidance to ensure effective process traceability and machine data collection.

What you will do:
• Create and maintain Industry 4.0 applications in a manufacturing/production environment.
• Facilitation of connecting production machinery & equipment to factory networks to enable Industry 4.0 analytics.
• Define, create project plan, and execute the connection to new machinery.
• Provide facilities and production machinery & equipment design information, reviewing and approving proposals and serving as the primary CAT Lafayette contact to internal process partners (Operations), contractors and suppliers.
• Approve equipment specifications and writing purchase requisitions.
• Act as a troubleshooter and investigating and determining causes for failure of Industry 4.0 connections or data issues.
• Create technical specifications and functions requirements for Industry 4.0 related projects.

Degree Requirement

Degree or equivalent experience desired with preference of Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or similar field

Engineering - MFG: Basic knowledge of processes, techniques and methods of engineering in a manufacturing environment; ability to design and implement materials, structures, machines, devices, systems and processes that safely realize a desired objective or invention.

Manufacturing Processes: Basic knowledge of existing product manufacturing methods, technologies and processes; ability to execute, plan, manage and monitor the entire manufacturing process.

Problem Solving: Basic knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.

Process Management: Working Knowledge of business process improvement tools and techniques; ability to understand, monitor, update, control, or enhance existing business or work processes.
Service Excellence: Working Knowledge of customer service concepts and techniques; ability to meet or exceed customer needs and expectations and provide excellent service in a direct or indirect manner.
Project Management: Extensive Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Extensive Knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing environment.

Top Candidates Will Also Have:
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, Engineering Technology, or similar field or master's degree in engineering or engineering technology
• Experience as a Manufacturing Engineer
• Experience utilizing CNC and PLC based system
• Understanding of shop operations and maintenance procedures as well as previous experience in a particular discipline.
• Able to build strong relationships with various stakeholders.
• Ability to communicate and have basic knowledge of functions performed by the skilled-trades personnel.

• This position is located in Lafayette, IN.

• This position will require less than 5% travel.

Summary Pay Range:

$89,210.00 - $133,810.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
