Responsibilities

  • Support the operational team with manufacturing engineering techniques.
  • Implement data system changes and maintain data accuracy including change orders and non-conformance tracking.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost reduction.
  • Conduct time studies to optimize assembly processes and routings.
  • Define, set up, and optimize job orders and manufacturing tooling.
  • Provide technical support to customers when necessary.
  • Collaborate with team members, customers, and vendors to assess feasibility and enhance production techniques.
  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and technical specifications for equipment.

Full Job Description
Your role

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing new processes and capabilities in house or externally to reduce the product cost of the assembly operation.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provides manufacturing engineering support to the operational team where needed.
• Implement changes to data systems and maintain data system integrity; charges include, but are not limited to change orders, non-conformance tracking, system routings
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives in support of departmental, site and corporate objectives for Safety, Quality, Delivery, Productivity, and Cost Performance
• Performs time studies for the assembly processes to create the correct routings and to optimize the balancing of the assembly process.
• Accounts for the definition, setup, preparation and optimization of Job orders and manufacturing tooling.
• Interface with customer as requested in a technical support capacity
• Interface with colleagues, customers, vendors and others to understand requirements, assess feasibility of new/existing products, and improve production techniques
• Creates and maintains of SOP (Standard Operating Procedures), technical specifications for manufacturing equipment, test specs.
• Document designs with drawings, specification and materials list
• Performs active training process, procedures, documentation, and traceability to create and sustain the workforce competences within the allocated manufacturing cells.
• Respectfully takes direction from manager and other duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
  • Bachelor degree in engineering, mechanical or manufacturing preferred. Industry experience would be considered in the absence of a degree.
  • Minimum 2 year experience in manufacturing, assembly or operations environment.
  • Experience/knowledge of Kaizen, 6S, Lean Manufacturing.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize work and manage multiple tasks.
  • Advanced Excel, Word, Autocad, Project, Solidworks
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems (Encompix benneficial).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in project management and leading improvement projects.
  • Demonstrated skill and achievement in implementing Lean practices in an operations environment.

Salary Range: $79,000 - $90,000 / year
