Description ACCOUNTABILITY:
Responsible for the engineering ownership of the manufacturing process for a variety of flight critical aerospace components, requiring integrity in the exercise of judgement and application of standard engineering principles and practices.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
- Prepare detailed manufacturing plans for the production of aerospace components in accordance with customer drawings, parts lists and specifications. Previous experience with Frozen Planning and manufacturing flight critical components preferred.
- Create accurate CAD models and dimensioned operation sheets using GD&T principles in support of this manufacturing planning effort.
- Provide technical troubleshooting support for machining operations (milling, turning, grinding), special processing (heat treat, polishing/deburring, shot peening, plating) and inspection (dimensional inspection and non-destructive testing).
- Investigate process and manufacturing nonconformances for route causes and corrective actions to avoid recurrences.
- Design manufacturing/assembly fixtures and gaging solutions.
- Analyze a variety of engineering/inspection data, documents and reports to recommend and implement process improvements to improve efficiency and reduce scrap/rework.
- Pursue initiatives to improve effectiveness of the group and increase customer satisfaction.
- Must work safely at all times, and actively participate in safety improvement initiatives by raising any safety concerns and providing solutions.
- May be assigned to carry out tasks, not specifically listed, within the scope and skill level of this job description in support of department or cell objectives, and to develop individuals' skills.
Position Requirements - Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related field. Alternatively, a special combination of education and experience and/or demonstrated accomplishments.
- 5-10 years' experience in Manufacturing Engineering for aerospace components.
- Working experience with Siemens NX CAD (NX 9+) software required.
- Must be able to read, interpret and apply Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing principles.
- Must be able to navigate through and apply detailed customer specifications for aerospace component production
- Experience introducing new aerospace product into manufacturing.
- Experience providing technical support for milling, turning, and grinding
- Experience working with various metals including steel, aluminum, titanium, etc.
- Strong verbal/written communication skills.
- Strong project management skills.
