SUMMARY:Reporting to the VP of Manufacturing Operations, the Manufacturing Controls/Software Engineer is responsible for aiding production in producing products to the correct process, troubleshooting equipment and test fixtures, assisting with testing functions, improving processes, developing HMIs, troubleshooting PLC issues and collect & pareto data to drive improvement on the production line.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES: - Design and develop control systems for manufacturing processes, focusing on automation and process improvement.
- Implement and maintain PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) systems, HMI (Human Machine Interface) configurations, and other control components.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure integration of control systems with overall manufacturing operations.
- Conduct continuous improvement activities to enhance production efficiency, safety, and product quality.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to controls and automation systems.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety and regulatory standards.
- Provide technical support and training to manufacturing personnel.
- Stay abreast of the latest in control technology and introduce innovative solutions to drive advancements in manufacturing processes.
- Assist in development of an internal MES.
- Any other duties assigned to improve manufacturing processes
QUALIFICATIONS & COMPENTENCIES:- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in an equipment controls engineering role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of PLC programming, HMI development, and SCADA systems.
- Experience with robotics, automation, and process control systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Office and manufacturing environment requiring some or all the following:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk or workstation
- Repetitive hand and arm movements
- Capable of lifting and carrying equipment, tools, or material weighing up to 50 lbs. May involve moving or setting up equipment for testing or demonstration
- Frequent reaching, grasping, pushing or pulling, bending or twisting motions
- Walking and standing for extended periods during site inspections, meetings or while supervising construction or manufacturing processes
- Standing, bending or kneeling to access equipment, perform on-site assessments, operate machinery, handle delicate components or perform detailed inspections
- Occasional travel to client sites or other company facilities may be required
- Ability to respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations including the ability to move quickly from job sites or perform urgent troubleshooting
- Working in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and noise levels. May involve exposure to battery chemicals or other materials used in the assembly process.
- Required to wear and properly use personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and gloves as required by safety protocols
