Position Overview

The Managing Director, Security and Internal Services has responsibility for EEI's physical security program, internal services operations, and facilities management. Reporting directly to the Chief Administrative Officer, this position sets strategic direction and ensures seamless day-to-day delivery across security, safety, facilities, and support services for EEI's headquarters and both internal and external events. The Managing Director oversees the Internal Services team and collaborates closely with EEI's Membership and Events team and other divisions to support EEI's mission. Some travel is required to support external events. In addition, this role requires the ability and availability to report to the office during emergency situations, inclement weather, or unplanned closures when other staff are not expected to be present

Security and Safety

The Managing Director serves as EEI's senior authority on physical security, developing and sustaining a comprehensive security program across the enterprise. Specific responsibilities include:
  • Lead implementation of recommendations from security assessments and evaluations, including all future physical security reviews.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously refine a comprehensive Physical Security policy spanning the entire organization.
  • Responsible for continuous monitoring of security threats to EEI, it's staff, facility, and events.
  • Spearhead EEI's efforts to cultivate a pervasive, organization-wide security culture through awareness programs and targeted training.
  • Assume full accountability for contracted security services, including vendor selection, performance management, and contract compliance.
  • Curate and deliver physical security training programs for employees and contractors.
  • Oversee all aspects of executive security.
  • Lead workplace safety programs and emergency preparedness initiatives, including evacuation procedures, CPR/AED training, and active assailant protocols.
  • Conduct enterprise-wide risk and vulnerability assessments; implement mitigation strategies aligned with applicable regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Coordinate security logistics for high-profile external events, including liaison duties with event venues, EEI members, law enforcement, and emergency responders as needed.
  • Accountable for key elements of business continuity.


Internal Services and Facilities

The Managing Director provides strategic and operational oversight of EEI's Internal Services function, ensuring efficient and professional delivery of centralized support services. Specific responsibilities include:
  • Hold's accountability for the daily operations and maintenance of EEI's office space.
  • Develops policies and establishes standards for parking, office space assignment, and other key workplace logistics related processes.
  • Maintains senior-level relationship with building management, key contractors, and strategic facilities vendors, including real-estate broker, architects, and general contractors.
  • In coordination with the Chief Administrative Officer and Corporate Secretary, oversee lease administration, physical due diligence, and facility transition planning for any future office relocations or build-outs.
  • Direct all printing, reprographics, mailroom, shipping, and receiving operations.
  • Oversee financial tracking, chargebacks, and reporting for internal services functions.
  • Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and ensure ongoing compliance with organizational policies; coordinate with legal and finance teams for approvals.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or professional certifications in security management (e.g., CPP), facilities management (e.g., CFM, FMP), or a related field strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 10-12 years of progressively responsible experience in physical security, safety, and/or facilities management, including at least 3-5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and managing enterprise-wide physical security programs, including access control, video surveillance, executive protection, and travel security.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement security policies, conduct risk assessments, and lead emergency preparedness initiatives.
  • Experience overseeing facilities operations, vendor management, and contract administration.
  • Familiarity with office lease administration and experience supporting office relocations or build-outs is a plus.
  • Strong budget management skills, with experience overseeing significant operational and capital budgets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to present to and work effectively with senior leadership, board members, and external stakeholders.
  • High degree of discretion and sound judgment in handling sensitive and confidential matters.
  • Collaborative working style with the ability to build trusted partnerships across a complex organization.
  • Some travel required.

Compensation

The salary range for role is $190,000-290,000. Starting annual salary will be determined on individual qualifications. The role is eligible for a performance based bonus for the 2026 calendar year which is paid out the following March.
