Responsibilities
The Investor Relations function sits within the investment teams and acts as a subject matter expert in order to:
• Support existing investors to monitor and oversee their investments
• Partner with the Global Client Group to provide content/messaging to support ongoing fundraising
The Head of Investor Relations, will act as a trusted extension of the investment teams, representing Liquid Credit, Private Credit, Opportunistic Credit, Power Opportunities, Special Situations and Real Estate strategies externally while driving a best-in-class investor experience. While not directly owning client relationships, the role is critical in shaping investor understanding and confidence in the platform.
This is a strategic and hands-on leadership role. The successful candidate will bring deep expertise in leveraged finance (ideally in credit with a broad familiarity with the alternative asset management industry), as well as a clear understanding of how to contribute to a highly positive client experience. This individual will lead and develop a global team of investor relations professionals, by modeling excellence in their work and also coaching the rest of the team to excellence in their respective areas.
Primary responsibilities would include:
Investor Engagement & Client Support
• Act as a credible extension of the investment team, with the ability to represent strategies and portfolios
• Participate in client meetings as the subject-matter expert on the portfolios, providing detailed insight into individual credits, positioning, performance, and strategy on existing portfolios and investments
• Oversee and triage investor inquiries, coordinating responses across IR, PMs, and other internal teams
• Lead LPACs and related investor governance processes
o Manage investor/advisory committees and produce required materials
• Oversee creation of various quarterly, annual and ad hoc investor reports and associated commentary
• Manage production of presentations for select events such as Annual Investor Meeting, Brookfield / Oaktree hosted forums, 3rd Party Hosted Events
• Partner closely with Client Relationship Managers (CRMs) to support and deepen relationships with institutional investors
Capital Formation & Strategic Solutions
• Partner with Global Client Group to support fundraising and client engagement efforts, including in forming fundraising narrative:
o Creation of drafts of marketing materials and value proposition narratives
• Partner with the different functions in the Global Client Group such as Fundraise Management, Investment Specialists and Marketing to apply client perspective
o Provide monthly/quarterly data updates for marketing materials
o Creation of drafts of custom investor presentations
o Creation of other supporting marketing materials on strategies/portfolios/investments
• Provide deep product and portfolio expertise in the LP diligence process
• Support co-investment processes, including investor communication and coordination
o Lead conversations with potential co-investment clients and coordinate required investment team resources for participation
o Produce and/or procure materials required for co-Investment syndications (Teaser, Investment Memo, Investment Model)
• Contribute to customized client solutions (e.g., separate accounts), working alongside Global Client Group and investment team
Team Leadership and Excellence
• Develop and manage a team dedicated to Investor Relations across Performing, Opportunistic and Liquid Credit
• Establish high standards for deliverables across the team, ensuring responsiveness, execution quality and good judgment
• Act as escalation point for complex issues
• Build scalable solutions and infrastructure, seeking to improve both outcomes and processes
Qualifications
• Experience in investor relations, client service or client relationship management at an asset manager, ideally with a focus on leveraged finance
• High fluency in leveraged finance, with an ability to communicate effectively about complex investment strategies with both investment teams and with investors
• Excellent project management experience
• Experience in high volume processes and technology enabled solutions
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
• Strong relationship management skills across multiple countries, being able to flex communication style to diverse geographies and investors
• Experience leading and retaining a high-performing, global team while modeling excellence in their own work
• Success building strong relationships cross-functionally across teams
• A strategic mindset focused on building a best-in-class function
Education
• Bachelor's degree (major in Finance, Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field preferred).
• MBA, CFA or other recognized advanced credentials is a plus.
