About the Role:

As the Transportation Manager for our PNW region, you will innovate, drive continuous improvement, and optimize transportation operations to support our growth plans. You will have a direct impact on Grocery Outlet's success by leading a team of logistics professionals. You will maintain internal database files, tables and develop custom reports to meet the requirements of the management team and staff as well as oversee the administration of system updates, required changes and system security. You will lead a team of supervisors, drivers, and support staff. The Transportation Manager will report to the Regional Director, RFC Operations.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Maintain a localized routing strategy that lowers costs and improves customer service, reporting accuracy and proactive communications.
  • Provide directions on route planning, delivery scheduling, flexible dispatching and performance measurement to assess plan versus actual performance.
  • Implement swift and decisive actions to improve driver recruitment and training.
  • Creates a collaborative environment, that includes coaching and developing employees, removing barriers to achievement of objectives, and instilling a culture of innovation.
  • Utilize drivers to gather real-time information that results in calculated adjustments in routing, scheduling and operational methods.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulatory agencies (i.e. DOT, OSHA, etc.), DOT compliant hours of service, prescribed safety practices and corporate work rules to build the most efficient route network, vehicle inspections and maintenance of store delivery windows.
  • Manages labor hours, travel, fuel and consumable supplies within budget, maximizing time and cost efficiencies. Prepare work schedules including extra workdays and shifts as needed.
  • Coordinates required repairs with proper departments, as necessary.
  • Monitors effectiveness of daily routing activities to ensure all established key performance indicators (KPI) and store customer satisfaction goals are met.
  • Suggests efficiency ideas, costs reduction measures and assists with the implementation of delivery changes. Provides analysis of overall transportation costs from third parties to include: route management and maintenance of an economical and efficient transportation system.
  • Helps to manage projects related to transportation and/or transportation systems.

About The Pay:
  • Base Salary Range: $100,000 - $120,000
  • Annual Bonus Program.

  • Employees are eligible to earn up to 120 hours of vacation per year. Vacation time is accrued each pay period and is not granted in full at the start of employment.
  • Final compensation will be determined based upon experience and skills and may vary based on location.
