About the role
The Manager, Trade Compliance, oversees the operation of a GXO Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) site, ensuring full compliance with Customs and Department of Commerce regulations. This role is responsible for managing daily FTZ transactions, inventory reconciliation, internal audits, and communication with CBP and customers. The position requires strong leadership, analytical, and cross-functional collaboration skills to maintain compliance while supporting business objectives.
What you'll do in a typical day
• Oversee daily operations and compliance of the GXO FTZ, including transaction processing and regular communication with CBP
• Manage inventory reconciliation, internal audits, and ensure accurate filings, documentation, and reporting related to FTZ activities
• Lead review and resolution of inventory discrepancies, commercial documentation, and customer or CBP inquiries
• Maintain and update all FTZ operations manuals, SOPs, and ensure readiness for software changes or system upgrades
• Develop and deliver training for staff on FTZ procedures, export compliance, and support cross-functional collaboration with related departments
• Drive process improvements, lead change management for system enhancements, and ensure timely completion of annual reports and required declarations
What you'll need to succeed at GXO
At a minimum you'll need:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant work experience
• 5 years of experience managing or administering an FTZ
• Knowledge of customs entry, international transportation of goods, import/export processes, expertise in FTZ regulations and CBP regulations
• Strong analytical ability, ability to multi-task, customer service skills, attention to detail, time management, team building skills, human relations, professional written and oral communications skills
• Experience with MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access & Outlook)
