Full Job Description
MacEwan University is seeking a Manager, Student Recruitment for a full-time continuing opportunity with the Office of the University Registrar.

Reporting to the Associate Registrar, Admissions, Recruitment and Transfer, the Manager, Student Recruitment provides strategic and operational leadership for MacEwan University's domestic and international student recruitment functions. You will be accountable for developing and implementing recruitment strategies, leading recruitment operations, managing recruitment-related programs and events, and overseeing a diverse team responsible for domestic recruitment, international recruitment, campus visits, and prospective student engagement activities.

As a member of the Admissions, Recruitment and Transfer leadership team and the Office of the University Registrar extended leadership team, you will use data-informed decision making, institutional partnerships, and industry best practices to support enrolment objectives, enhance the prospective student experience, and advance the University's strategic enrolment goals.

The position provides leadership in business process improvement, organizational change initiatives, recruitment transformation projects, and institutional partnerships while ensuring recruitment services are effective, inclusive, innovative, and aligned with university priorities.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Fostering a positive, high-performing, service-oriented, and inclusive team culture through effective communication, employee engagement, conflict resolution, and labour relations management;
  • Managing employee performance including coaching, performance improvement plans, progressive discipline, and terminations in collaboration with Human Resources and in accordance with applicable collective agreements;
  • Allocating human and financial resources to ensure operational requirements, service standards, and strategic priorities are achieved;
  • Overseeing all domestic and international undergraduate recruitment operations and activities;
  • Establishing recruitment targets and evaluating outcomes using conversion, market, enrolment, and performance data;
  • Leading recruitment-related transformation initiatives including ERP optimization, business process redesign, change management initiatives, and service improvements;
  • Developing and maintaining strategic relationships with Faculties, Schools, administrative units, educational institutions, community organizations, government agencies, alumni, and industry stakeholders;
  • Collaborating with Admissions, Academic Advising, MacEwan International, Communications and Marketing, Alumni, kihêw waciston, and the Office of Human Rights to support recruitment objectives and applicant conversion; and
  • Providing subject matter expertise and advice regarding recruitment strategy, policies, processes, trends, and best practices.
Skills

  • Demonstrated experience interpreting and utilizing recruitment and enrolment data;
  • Excellent communication, relationship management, and stakeholder engagement skills;
  • Knowledge of Canadian and international education systems and student recruitment trends;
  • Knowledge of change management, process improvement, and project management methodologies;
  • A strong understanding of collective agreements, labour relations principles, and performance management practices;
  • Demonstrated commitment to service excellence; and
  • The ability to operate effectively in a complex, fast-paced, and highly collaborative environment.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of an undergraduate degree in Education, Business, Administration, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in student recruitment, enrolment management, admissions, or student services within a post-secondary environment, including a minimum of 3 years of leadership experience in a unionized environment.
  • Experience with strategic enrolment management, data-informed decision making, organizational change initiatives, process improvement, and student information systems (such as PeopleSoft Campus Solutions).
  • Experience leading transformational initiatives and managing international recruitment activities is considered an asset.
  • Training or certification in leadership, project management, change management, or enrolment management would be considered an asset.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
