JOB SUMMARY

This role will serve as the primary communications partner to members of the executive leadership team. This role acts as a trusted advisor to senior executives, translating complex business strategies into compelling communications that inspire action, build trust, and reinforce Highmark Health's mission and purpose.

PREFERRED RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop comprehensive executive communications strategies aligned with enterprise priorities.
  • Advise executive leaders on messaging, positioning, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Anticipate communications opportunities and risks and recommend proactive approaches.
  • Write and edit high-impact communications, including:
    • Speeches and keynote presentations
    • Town hall remarks
    • Employee communications
    • Leadership messages and video scripts
    • Board and leadership meeting materials
    • Articles, blogs, and thought leadership content
    • Social media content and external bylines
  • Ensure all communications reflect the executive's authentic voice and leadership style.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform management responsibilities to include, but are not limited to: involved in hiring and termination decisions, coaching and development, rewards and recognition, performance management and staff productivity. Plan, organize, staff, direct and control the day-to-day operations of the department; develop and implement policies and programs as necessary; may have budgetary responsibility and authority.

  • Serves as key member of planning, and communications department's management team, contributing to annual strategic plans and directing messaging development.
  • Manage crisis situations and works with business partners to implement strategic, rapid response plans.
  • Consults with executive leadership to develop effective strategies, including communications, messaging, and communication channels that support and drive engagement and organizations mission, vision, and goals .
  • Serves as one of the organizations lead writers and consultants, ensuring written and verbal communications meets the organizations brand standards and demonstrates an intimate understanding of the organizations strategic direction, operations, needs of employees/stakeholders, and goals.
  • Oversees strategic direction for internal communication channels such as, intranet, communication campaign managers, electronic bulletin boards, etc., as well as strategic direction for the integration of any communication channels and spearheads new and unique formats.
  • Owns the communication analytics. Develops recommended reporting strategy to senior and executive leadership. Oversees communication benchmarking, best practices, and trends to help drive strategic and change communication direction.
  • Oversees the execution of communication strategies and change management plans for operational changes within the organization.
  • Other duties as assigned or requested.

EXPERIENCE

Required
  • 7 years in Health Care, Health Insurance, Information Technology and/or large corporation communications related field
  • 5 years of Managing large communication programs in corporate environments, as well as an internal and/or external spokesperson

  • 3 years of Demonstrated Leadership Capabilities


Preferred
  • 5 years of experience supporting C-suite leaders with thought leadership and executive positioning programs.
  • 3-5 years of experience managing a team
