Tax Controversy Manager / Senior Manager

Help Shape Outcomes When the Stakes Are Highest

Some tax professionals spend their careers focused primarily on compliance. Others become the trusted resource colleagues turn to when a tax issue becomes more complex, an examination begins, or an important outcome is on the line.

This role offers the opportunity to become a highly visible advisor within the firm, partnering with clients, engagement teams, and firm leadership to help shape strategies, navigate challenges, and influence outcomes when they matter most.

As a member of our team, you'll work alongside highly respected tax professionals who value collaboration, intellectual curiosity, and practical problem-solving. You'll help clients navigate examinations, disputes, notices, appeals, and other complex tax matters while serving as a trusted resource to colleagues throughout the firm.

Just as importantly, you'll have the opportunity to help shape the future of a growing specialty practice. This is a role where expertise creates influence, and where influence creates meaningful impact for clients, colleagues, and the firm.

What You'll Do

You'll serve as a strategic advisor to clients and colleagues while helping manage a variety of federal, state, and local tax controversy matters, including:
  • IRS and State Tax Examinations
  • Administrative appeals and dispute resolution
  • Tax notices and information requests
  • Penalty abatement and collection matters
  • Tax research and controversy strategy
  • Client advocacy and representation before taxing authorities
  • Consultation with partners and engagement teams on complex tax matters
  • Development of client relationships and business opportunities within the practice

Depending on experience and level, this individual may also play a significant role in mentoring staff, developing processes, and helping drive the continued growth of the firm's tax controversy capabilities.

Who We're Excited to Meet

We're interested in experienced professionals who enjoy solving complex problems, building trusted relationships, and helping others navigate challenging situations with confidence.

Qualified candidates may come from backgrounds including:
  • Public accounting
  • Tax law
  • The Internal Revenue Service
  • State taxing authorities
  • Corporate tax departments
  • Specialized tax consulting firms

Ideal candidates will bring strong technical tax knowledge, excellent communication skills, sound professional judgment, impeccable organizational skills, and a genuine desire to serve as a trusted advisor to both clients and colleagues.

Build Something Meaningful

Tax controversy is a specialized area of practice where technical expertise, strategy, advocacy, and relationship-building come together. For professionals who enjoy making an impact, influencing important decisions, and helping clients navigate complex challenges, this opportunity offers the chance to do meaningful work alongside some of the most respected tax professionals in the region.
