Manager, Software Engineering

Madison, WI

We are looking for a Software Engineering Manager to lead and develop a team of engineers building the pricing and offers capabilities that power PlayStation commerce. Our teams work across the stack, from services and APIs that manage and deliver prices and offers, to partner and operator tooling, to customer-facing experiences across PlayStation platforms.

You'll create an environment where engineers can grow, take ownership, and deliver their best work, while maintaining a high bar for technical excellence and execution. This role requires a balance of strong people leadership and technical depth, with the ability to coach and empower engineers, navigate complex problems, and make sound decisions when priorities compete.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of engineers, creating clear expectations, meaningful growth opportunities, and strong ownership across the team.
  • Drive engineering delivery against strategic business outcomes, breaking complex initiatives into incremental milestones that deliver value to production.
  • Maintain a high bar for engineering quality, operational excellence, and team performance.
  • Guide technical decision-making by participating in architecture, design, and engineering trade-offs while empowering engineers to own solutions.
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, Program Management, and Engineering teams across multiple time zones to align priorities, roadmaps, and dependencies.
  • Anticipate and remove technical and organizational roadblocks, risks, and dependencies that could prevent the team from delivering effectively.
  • Assess and communicate team capacity and resourcing needs, while continuously improving how the team operates and delivers.
Qualifications:
  • BS or Master's in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
  • 6+ years of software development experience, including experience managing or leading software engineers
  • Demonstrated ability to manage, mentor, and empower engineers
  • Strong technical foundation with the ability to guide architecture, design, and engineering discussions
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and balance priorities across multiple initiatives
  • Experience delivering complex software across multiple teams or systems; experience in commerce or pricing is not required.
  • Experience with Agile development practices and continuous improvement
Bonus
  • Experience with commerce, pricing, promotions, or other transactional systems
  • Experience with backend services/APIs, internal or partner-facing tooling, or consumer-facing applications
  • Experience working in a globally distributed or matrixed organization
