Citizens Financial Group, Inc. (CFG) seeks a Manager, Software Engineer for its Johnston, Rhode Island location.

Responsibilities:
• Responsible for delivering high impact technology solutions across the Private Banking and Payments platforms.
• Oversee building and operating mission critical systems that support customer experience, money movement, payment processing, fraud controls, and regulatory compliance.
• Lead, develop, and retain high performing engineering teams responsible for Private Banking and Payments capabilities, including client experiences, backend services, integrations, and data flows that move and safeguard money.
• Own engineering outcomes end to end, from problem framing and design through delivery, production stability, and continuous improvement.
• Partner closely with Product, Architecture, Risk, Security, and Business stakeholders to translate complex Private Banking and Payments requirements into scalable, secure, and resilient technical solutions.
• Drive technical strategy and execution for systems involving payments, entitlements, approvals, transaction workflows, customer data, and integration with core banking, payment rails, and third party providers.
• Establish and enforce strong engineering practices, including code quality, documentation, automated testing, release discipline, and operational readiness.
• Ensure predictable, incremental delivery while balancing speed, quality, and regulatory obligations. Optimize investments by aligning team capacity to the highest value work.
• Identify, assess, and reduce technical, operational, and security risk throughout the software lifecycle, applying industry best practices for financial systems handling sensitive data and funds movement.
• Collaborate with peer engineering leaders to ensure seamless integration across platforms and a cohesive end to end client experience.
• Drive adoption of AI-native tools and services to more rapidly deliver solutions to internal and external customers
• Act as a visible engineering leader-coaching engineers, setting clear expectations, and building a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous learning.

Qualifications:

Requires a Master's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or related field and 4 years of experience as a Software Engineer, Technology Lead, or related position designing and developing applications.

Must have 4 years of experience with:
• Designing and developing applications and microservices using the NodeJS technology stack and NPM packages, including ExpressJS, Fastify, Mongoose, MongoDB-native-driver, TypeORM, Joi, BreeJS, Lodash, Passport, NodeMailer, and AWS-SDK;
• Creating and publishing reusable custom libraries to handle and execute internal business logic and support the development experience;
• Utilizing JavaScript with NodeJS runtime environment, including, EventLoop, Thread Pools (worker nodes and clustering), Stream Operations, and Asynchronous operations based on Promises and Observables;
• Utilizing TypeScript for back-end and front-end development, including available Static Types, Object Oriented Programming, Compilation Environment, and Generics;
• Creating flexible and scalable back-end server systems using Java, multithreading, and streaming, asynchronous operations;
• Utilizing the Spring technology stack, including SpringBoot, Hibernate, Eureka Discovery Server, Zuul API Gateway, Spring JPA, Spring Batch, Spring Security, Spring MVC, J2EE, JSP, Servlets, and JDBC;
• Utilizing shell scripting languages, including Python, Ruby, PHP, and Bash to create script applications, test scripts, network scripts, and infrastructure scripts;
• Utilizing API paradigms, including REST, SOAP, GraphQL, and RPC;
• Utilizing databases paradigms, including Document (Mongodb, DynamoDB, FireBase), Relations (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle 11g, MariaDB, Aurora), Key-Value (Redis Cache, Memcached), and Wide Column (Cassandra);
• Integrating messaging and data stream systems, including KAFKA, Confluent, RabbitMQ, Red Hat AMQ, Amazon SQS, Amazon SNS, Amazon Kinesis, and Active MQ;
• Utilizing front-end frameworks, including Angular, React, and Vue, to create Single Page Applications;
• Utilizing Amazon Web Services, including EC2, AWS Lambda, RDS, IAM, Elastic Cache, S3, Glacier, EBS, CloudFront, SNS, SQS, SES, CloudWatch, and Route53 to create cloud native microservices on AWS infrastructure; AND
• Utilizing Continues Deployment & Continues Integration processes to create and deploy highly available, robust and scalable applications by using Docker, Jenkins and RedHat OpenShift.

Remote work permitted up to 3 days per week.
