ROLE SUMMARY

The Manager, SAP GMX Solution Lead will be a key technical and functional leader within the Enterprise Solutions Insights (ESI), responsible for designing, developing, and delivering SAP Business Warehouse (BW) and SAP Business Planning & Consolidation (BPC) solutions that support Global Markup Exchange (GMX) and Finance functions. This role is the primary SAP subject matter expertise in Mark up exchange domain knowledge with analytical platforms.

The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on BW and BPC expertise combined with a strong understanding of SAP SD and Finance functional processes. They will partner closely with Finance, and Digital stakeholders to translate complex business requirements into scalable, high-quality analytical solutions.

This role will also play a critical part in Pfizer’s SAP platform modernization, ensuring that BW data architecture integrity is maintained as the organization advances its S/4HANA and BW/4HANA journey.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

In order of importance, the primary responsibilities that are critical to the performance of this role:

1. SAP BW Solution Design, Development & Delivery

  • Lead end-to-end design, development, and deployment of SAP BW and BPC solutions supporting GMX and Finance domains.
  • Data Ingestion: design and maintain data acquisition layers including DataSources, , CDS-based extraction (ODQ framework), InfoPackages, and Data Transfer Processes (DTPs); monitor and troubleshoot delta loads, error stacks, and process chains.
  • Data Modeling: architect and build BW InfoProviders including Advanced DSOs, Composite Providers, Open ODS Views, design transformation logic (start routines, end routines, expert routines in ABAP) to meet complex mapping requirements.
  • Create/Maintain ABAP Programs and troubleshoot ABAP programs
  • Planning Functions: design and implement BPC planning functions, FOX formula scripts, configure input-ready queries and planning sequences to support Finance planning and consolidation cycles.
  • BW Query Development: create, maintain, and optimize BEx queries and Analysis for Office (AfO) workbooks, including calculated key figures, restricted key figures, variables, exceptions, and conditions; ensure query performance through partitioning strategies.
  • Analysis for Office (AfO): build and maintain AfO-based reporting and planning templates for end-users; train and support users on AfO refresh, navigation, and input-ready planning functionality.
  • Troubleshooting: diagnose and resolve BW issues across the full stack — extraction failures, transformation errors, query performance degradation, process chain failures, and BPC planning inconsistencies; perform root-cause analysis and implement sustainable fixes.
  • Ensure solution alignment with SAP S/4HANA and BW/4HANA migration roadmap, maintaining data architecture integrity throughout transitions.

2. SAP S/4 SD & Finance Functional Expertise

  • Apply knowledge of SAP SD condition types, condition tables, access sequences, pricing procedures, and condition records maintenance to ensure integration to GMX Solutions.
  • Apply knowledge of SAP Material Master data — including material types, plant/sales organization views, valuation class, pricing-relevant fields, classification/characteristics, and MRP views — to ensure accurate integration to GMX solutions.
  • Apply Finance domain expertise in Product Costing (CO-PC) — standard cost estimates, cost component splits, material ledger/actual costing — and General Ledger (FI-GL) — G/L account master data, document types, posting keys, and period-end processes — to shape GMX model design and data flows.
  • Leverage knowledge of Finance master data (company codes, cost centers, profit centers, G/L account master, controlling areas)to ensure data integrity and consistency across BW reporting layers and BPC planning models.
  • Support data validation and reconciliation between BW/BPC outputs and source S/4HANA systems, particularly for pricing, costing, and GL balances.

3. Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Partner with GMX business leads, Finance partners, and Digital teams to gather, validate, and prioritize requirements.
  • Represent the ESI team in cross-functional working sessions and governance forums involving Finance, and Digital stakeholders.
  • Serve as the technical-to-business translator ensuring shared understanding and alignment between IT delivery teams and business partners.

4. Delivery Oversight & Governance

  • Apply SDLC methodologies to manage solution delivery from requirements through deployment and post-go-live support.
  • Define and track delivery KPIs and OKRs to measure solution quality, adoption, and timeliness.
  • Coordinate testing cycles (unit, integration, UAT) with business and technical teams; drive defect resolution.
  • Contribute to code reviews and ensure adherence to development standards, naming conventions, and best practices.

5. Communication & Escalation

    • Contribute to and execute the ESI team communication strategy for GMX and Finance stakeholder groups.
    • Participate in required demos and training sessions to drive adoption of delivered BW/BPC solutions.
  • Escalate impactful technical risks and issues to the ESI Team Lead in a timely and structured manner.
