The Manager, Sales Compensation Operations & Systems serves as the business owner and subject matter expert for Sales Compensation processes and administration within the Varicent platform. This individual contributor role is responsible for gathering business requirements, maintaining compensation plans and configurations, troubleshooting, executing user acceptance testing (UAT), developing operational reporting, and driving continuous process improvements.
The position works closely with Sales Compensation, Finance, HR, Sales Operations, and HR Technology teams to ensure incentive compensation plans are administered accurately and efficiently. The role is expected to leverage the platform's self-service capabilities to independently manage business configurations, reporting, testing, and operational activities while partnering with HR Technology for platform administration, integrations, security, data architecture, and complex technical enhancements.
Primary Responsibilities- Gather, document, and prioritize business requirements for compensation plan changes, enhancements, and process improvements.
- Design, configure, test, deploy, and maintain compensation plan logic within the Varicent platform.
- Implement new incentive compensation plans and enhance existing plan configurations based on approved business requirements.
- Configure calculations, rules, workflows, hierarchies, credits, adjustments, quotas, and reporting components.
- Manage platform inputs including file loads, data validations, transformations, and reconciliation activities.
- Test and validate integrations between Varicent and source systems and downstream systems.
- Analyze and resolve configuration defects, calculation discrepancies, performance issues, and data anomalies.
- Participate in release planning, testing, deployment, and post-production support activities.
- Create and maintain business process documentation, configuration guides, and standard operating procedures.
- Partner with Sales Compensation Administration teams to assess technical impacts of plan changes and operational requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve system efficiency, automation, auditability, and scalability.
- Validate compensation calculations and ensure alignment with approved plan designs and business policies
Required Qualifications- 5+ years of experience supporting Sales Performance Management, Incentive Compensation Management, or comparable compensation technology solutions.
- Proven experience with Varicent configuration or equivalent platforms.
- Strong understanding of sales compensation concepts, plan design, quotas, credits, and incentive calculations.
- Experience gathering business requirements and translating them into system configurations and operational processes.
- SQL and data analysis proficiency.
- Demonstrated problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience with Varicent Designer.
- Experience supporting large-scale enterprise compensation environments.
- Knowledge of Salesforce, Workday, payroll platforms, and enterprise data ecosystems.
- Experience with software development lifecycle (SDLC), testing, and release management processes.
- Healthcare, financial services, or other highly regulated industry experience.
Education- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Pay RangeThe typical pay range for this role is:
$66,330.00 - $145,860.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
